I got hit by someone on a roundabout today and they just drove off

Completely my right of way, they just pulled out and scraped past me. Luckily I took a note of their numberplate so the police are dealing with it, although I'm not sure what they will do and how seriously they will take it. I have damage to my rear bumper, a slight crack in my number plate, a dislodged towing eye cover and slight scratches to the paintwork.

My other half works in car sales (Fiat actually) and he did an HPI check. It seems the other car has not had an HPI check since 2002 so there is a high possibility they were uninsured....

Bastards :bang:

Yeah I called in straight away and reported it, then had to go and give a full statement at my local station. I'll have to report it to my insurance company tomorrow because I didn't get a chance to this evening, it only happened at five pm.

I swear I'll slash their tyres if I see them again. It makes me wonder, if they are not willing to stop with such a minor incident as this, would they stop if they seriously injured someone.

I would go nuts!
Some people have absolute disregard for people in smaller cars.

A few months ago I was on my way home, about 1am, I entered the roundabout intending to go straight over, just as i was passing the first exit somebody flys right infront of me from my left I had to slam the breaks on, lucky they were traveling as fast as they were or i would of been right into their side.

Had a long meeting with the toilet after that one.

All to common place now, but not having a HPI check done on it doesnt prove they have no insurance, you could check the motor insurance database but its illegal unless its your car and without reasonable cause

I won't be doing that then!!

While they tell me they will be investigating it, I will leave it with them. Someone at my workplace has contacts with Hants police and said they will enquire where abouts the investigation is.

It makes me boil with anger when I think about it. It was a clapped out M reg Toyota that hit my beautiful shiny car. ARGH!

My insurance company have confirmed that the driver is likely to not be insured. They did the MID search and found nothing against that reg

police will take this very seriously

number one, failure to stop after an accident.

was gona say that myself...and just reading it didnt have a license,no wonder they didnt stop..

an speakin of crashes,a girl-friend i no has just bumped her car 2nite (was a punto) at a roundabout, dont no full story but she was bout 2 set off an decided not to an person wacked in2 her from behind..they stopped tho an is gettin dealt with..She had car full an all 5 are puttin in 4 whiplash lol :D

Glad ur ok tho luv

What swines doing that, poor you and poor Bravo :(

The Police shouldve loaded the registration number of that car onto ANPR now tho, so it should only be a matter of time before theyre stopped, coz the ANPR system runs on the same database all over the country i believe, so as soon as the car goes past a police car or ANPR roadside camera, theyll be onto it.

Where did this happen? Did you not follow the driver? Perhaps you could put the details up location and people can keep an eye out for the offending vehicle.

It happened at the roundabout off Junction 8 M27 Eastbound (Southampton) where I was turning right towards Bursledon. They came off at Junction 8 Westbound (from Portsmouth) and headed right towards Botley.

I couldn't follow the driver because I was in a queue of traffic and I would never have caught up with them anyway. I think I was more then a little suprised it had all happened actually.

Car was a Red M reg Toyota corrolla. Registration ended M V M so is very easy to remember. If I see it again I will follow it so I can tell the police exactly where it is .....(and maybe let down the tyres....).

This makes me feel a lot happier!

Looks like my repairs will cost be about £50 mates rates. £300 if anyone else will pay it. And a few quid for bubble wrap so I can feel secure driving around again :p
