Styling Help with Colors?

Styling Help with Colors?

Oh good, a winter tyre thread. In June.

LOL. Maxi raised a good point about ESP in the snow & ice. I turned my ESP off to 'get around'. Not too sure if that was the correct thing to do. Still the 500 is a great car in the snow and would be an excellent choice for the OP in the artic NE of the US.

Here is another picture of a Jive blue 500 which is a little more accurate in respect of colour.

Good picture grimwau - the jive blue does look well. It's hard to work out if the Azzurro (it's the only blue) on the US configurator is a Pastel or metallic (it's easy on the UK config with the price differences). I did like the New Orleans Blue (Met) but the Rock & Roll is very retro whilst the Volare is quite unique and was an excellent choice for the launch TA.

I reckon the US will release another Blue.

Do you know, I might have been mistaken in thinking that was Mark's car but something is nagging at the back of my mind that it might be Melannab's that Mark was detailing for her, in which case it is Mod Blue, .......... Sorry!

This is our Verde Chiaro in the US.

Is this the same Ye Ye Green that everyone is trashing? It's a very light pastel color.
It is indeed Yuck Yuck Green.

I know it looks attractive now, but just wait till the novelty wears off I reckon. The beauty of a 500 in BNW with some nice wheels is that it's not trying 110% to be retro and that IMHO (biased I know) makes it a car which won't date as badly as a Yuck Yuck Green car with the OTT retro chrome wheel covers and tan leather with ivory ambience.

Yes, I hear you.

I am sold on the Bianco (BNW) so should just leave it at that.

I am really worried about doing anything that might date like Ivory Ambience or red leather.

I keep wondering if I should just keep it "classic" and timeless - BNW with charcoal leather and Black Ambience. I hate to be boring, but resale is a consideration.

This is my fav ever colour for a 500! And yes I know how many people don't like it, but I like having an unusual colour car that stands out a little (makes it easy to spot in big car parks too!) :) I think you'll love a Bianco though - sounds like you've made the all important decision!

Hi macdebbie. I did say that we would stick with you on the selection. :)

My core training is that of a Systems Analyst - so I would have been used to getting 'people's' jumbled up requirements and then delivering on a system that in my best judgement was what they thought they wanted - I rarely got it wrong but I was able to prototype. It's a pity that I'm not a billionaire like Mark Zuckerberg (he was in Dublin very recently) but at least I haven't had to engage a PR outfit to spruce up the geeky image :)

The mod blue then grimwau showed was nice but the US Blue (new Orleans blue) will not be good for re-sale. You've picked BNW - so let's park that.

Neither of these will date. In fact I would say that if you go for the Lounge model - white ambiance is what is expected for re-sale.
I'm a leather girl, I admit it (that doesn't sound quite right!) but I also am trying to save money.
Leather is only available on the Lounge model and is priced at $1,500 on the configurator so it is not a runner. The sport model with the half leather in a blacky leather / grey fabric is classy and IMHO it an excellent choice.

The Pop & Lounge model are classic i.e. retro in shape whilst Sport is Abarthy - you need to decide which shape you wish to go for.
If you wish to keep costs down the Pop in BNW with white ambiance and red fabric is a good seller from my limited Irish experience. Personally I would opt for the grey fabric - the red as a little too much but I would get used to it.
Lounge has been the preferred choice in the UK because of value for money and because people preferred the glass roof.
Sport was got primarily for the seats.
If you can live with the Abarthy looky of your Sport then going for the Sport model with the moonroof ticks all the boxs.
Funny thing is my husband doesn't give a hoot about all this stuff, and thinks I'm overanalyzing things. He says "just pick one!" so having this forum is a lifesaver, and possibly a marriage saver!
I kept my OH in the dark when I was trying to self medicate so you're in the right place ! :)

Yes indeed that looks like Ye Ye. I think it's Gorgeous colour. It's not a boy racer colour which I think is why it mainly gets trashed on this forum:eek:!, but it has some big fans and I'm one of them! I have seen people gathering round to admire a yeye green 500.

Unfortunately it got discontinued just before I ordered, so that cut out one dilemma for me anyway.

But either way I think you should choose what you like and not be swayed too much – personally I'd never choose any colour that I hadn't seen in the flesh.

That has nothing to do with it. If Ye Ye Green was so great then people would have been queuing up to buy it and they weren't :) BNW is hardly a "boy racer colour" whatever that is!

I'm just pointing out that the opinions on a car enthusiast forum such as this might not necessarily be completely indicative of the choices of the wider car-buying public (though I admit it might be a good place to start).

And as has already been discussed at great length the car colours are changed for many reasons not just because of fewer sales, (if they did then FIAT would have dumped Tropicalia yellow instead of CCC Azure which sold far more).

If people were encouraged to be less scared of what everybody else thinks and and continually worrying about resale value then I think you'd see more wild colours out there, which in my opinion would be a good thing. Then again I did slag off the pink…:)

I don't think people are all that worried about resale.

I'm sorry, but it's just not an attractive colour. We've got a bathroom which is Ye Ye Green and when we get around to getting it done you're more than welcome to take away the Ye Ye coloured bath, basin and tiles!

Regarding CCCAB and Tropicalia yellow, around where we live there are slightly more yellows than blues so I very much suspect over the whole of europe, yellow sells better hence why the blue got canned.

Too funny! I was a systems analyst many years ago and quite good at it. I seem fine helping organize other people's ideas except for my own!

I've decided on the Lounge, BNW (Bianco here) with heated leather seats, ivory ambience, and the upgraded wheels. Color of the leather yet to be determined.

I'm kind of liking this interior, but I want to see it in person at the showroom. May opt for gray. Considered red, but might get sick of it. If they have one there, I would love to see what it looks like in person. Our seats here are different, not as nice with the piping.

https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/142938-my-new-500-oliver.html

At my dealership - sorry "Studio", they do aftermarket leather in basically any color you want. The Fiat leather seats are $1,500 just for the seats the after-market are $1,699 for heated leather. They do nice with stitching that adds just that little bit of detail.

The only remaining questions is sunroof or not. I think not. I will sit in/drive a sunroof today, but I don't want that cramped feeling that the cars with the sunroof have (to me anyway). Plus not so sure I want to spend another $850. I hardly ever use the one in the car I have now.

We can add leather to the Pop here since it's aftermarket. But the Lounge offers so much more - Security System, Fog Lights (is this the Xenon everyone talks about?), Bose Audo, Auto Temp, and 6-Speed Auto.

I also, as you know, seriously considered the Cabrio, but it just isn't practical and the Lounge has more of what I want - leather and heated seats in particular for the same price.

Going to the dealer later today. Will see how it plays out....

Thanks again.

On a previous thread discussing best colours what I 'took' from it was the CCA Blue was a colour that should not have been dropped. IMHO it is a colour that would make an excellent secondhand buy since it's a little different from the BNW. Fiat had been fiddling with the blues - Jive - Mod - New Orleans and then changed to the Rock & Roll and Volare blue that we have now. It's a cost issue in that the more colours you carry the higher the cost. My OH drove a nice blue Alfa 147 and it was nice but she wanted a change on her current Alfa red. On the Yellow - one member on here got an excellently priced 1.4 sport - the cheapest on Auto trader - so bargains can be picked up because of the 'niche ness'.

For the OP on this thread Re-sale has come up as a key requirement.

One article that I came across on 'what colour says about you' gave a very interesting :) summation of the BNW although it wasn't on a 'car' site...

White: Symbolic of purity, innocence and naivete, white has strong connotations of youth and purity. If you are an older person, your preference for white could indicate a desire for perfection and impossible ideals, maybe an attempt to recapture lost youth and freshness. It may also symbolize a desire for simplicity or the simple life.
