Hi all im in need of help 😩

My daughters car has broken down, im a mechanic and looking for a bit of advise before i throw money away, so its a 2011 500 1.2 driving along and lost all power cuts out and no restart, once recovered i takes a look, eml flashing on the dash, cranks but no start, plugged in with, delphi, autocom and wow no communication to any system, disconnected battery and checked for the common bad earths nothing wrong so re connected battery, first time the ignition is on the eml stays on solid and i can communicate, only codes are p1300 crank sensor relearn and p1325 knock sensor circuit fault. Tried to delete and they wont, tried to start and still nothing, left ignition on while nosing at both sensors and the eml had stopped flashing, tried to start and it and it did run for about a minute then cut out, back to the start again with eml flashing but know i can still read faults, replaced both crank sensor and knock sensor and wiring checked but still having the issue with non start, so know i thinking possible engine ecu

Has anyone had this issue before tia

Hi,🙂
with an older 500.. always worth checking the cables in the rear hatch pivot area (prone to stressing and failing) 😔

Also the scuttle drains, as its potentially half-submerged and not letting the rainwater out. 😉

Is this car a known quantity.., covered thousands of hassle free miles with you?
We see plenty of them bought with longstanding issues, and then there is potential for "the unexpected" 😏

Hi thanks for the reply, yes we have had the car for about 6 years with no hassle at all, thanks for your info but would the wiring in the tailgate cause the issue we are having?

It can cut power.. Or short A LOT of things,

Relatively quick and easy to check

Just search 'maybelline" on here 😉

Afternoon all, so got home lifted the tailgate and the thing started and ran for about 5 minutes, i thought no way then cut out 😤 so checked the wiring in tailgate and not one break or damage, iv also checked front doors and found 1 in the drivers door snapped, repaired that but still no starting 😤 back to the drawing board.

I thought my luck had changed 😂

You've checked the timing belt still intact?
Blocked duck bills can cause water from the scuttle to soak the ecu?
Hi john, yes buddy the car runs perfect once it fires until it next cuts out, had the ecu out no water ingress, made sure we have contact on the wiring thats also ok im pointing more at the bsi now

@John202020 I'd pursue fuel issues.
But is that possible? Symptoms initially seem fuel related, but I don't know how fuel is controlled on the 500.
Blockage perhaps?

Several have reported issues with the fuel pump, (the only filter is built into the pump unit)

BUT, initial issue here looked purely electrical.. 🤔

Afternoon yes for sure electrical, new pump has been fitted, this morning ran perfect for about 5-6 mins then cut out engine light was flashing, again now dont start 😤
