Hi all,

I have to make a decision by tomorrow on one of the 3 colors available that are on stock at the dealer...
I am having a tough time to decide the colors are bossa nova white, pasodoble red and electro clash grey.

I saw all of the colors today when i was there 4 hours ago thinking that seeing them live will ease my decision... obviously this did not happen so now im here.

Any suggestion are welcome also ure personal experience with the mentioned colors how they hold through the time.

maybe how u made ure color choice...

Regards L.

Electroclash Grey is quite rare and it looks good in all shades. It never obviously shows its dirty after the rain and once clean it literally 'glows'.

The BNW is admittedly not bad but much too common and easy to get dirty and the dark grey metallic just looks good.

When scratched, the primer paint is white so it barely shows at all it jsut looks like another shade of the car! (you know normal wear and tear like stones bird droppings, minor scratches etc)

I chose my colour because I liked it the most. I suggest you do the same - it can't be that hard to make a decision and stick to it?

Oi, don't steal my view :p

As always, it's not my car nor is it anyone elses other than yours, why does our opinion matter? We're never going to drive it or probably even see it.

Get what YOU like the look of.

Personally I'd steer away from a colour that is similar to the colour of the road on safety grounds, so grey is out for me. That said running lights do improve matters.

If you can't decide then bear in mind that white is a no-cost option.

I'm not sure about that. Can anyone tell me if RobW can decide what the OP likes?

I was sure that you would suggest electroclash grey! Besides that if had to choose from those 3 i would definately go for the electroclash grey. I have seen all of them in flesh and electroclash is just stunning. Bnw and p.red are very common as ahmett said. I was between this grey and volare blue and i finally placed my order yesterday choosing the second one.

Hi all thx so far for the aswers.

Im not asking anyone to chhose for me im just asking ure opinions, what u chose and why, how u are satisfied with the color after some use, how does it stand the test of time. So speak up :)

NOW let me give u some more details so u will see why the extra dillema :D

Im getting the car as a BD present for my parents that are in their 70s, as a thank you for all the things they did for me throug the years (y)

Their current car is a VW Polo bought origally by my dad new back in 95, car is done with serving them so im up. Color vise the car was pistacia green  and was like that as it was only one available at the dealer at that time and u would need to wait for one for 6 months so my dad said whatever not a fan of the green but hate waiting even more...

Previous car we had was a originla VW beetle bought in 1976 was ordered in WHITE by my parents but then waited for 5 months till an orange came in ;) and they could not wait more so orange it would be...

Prior to that My monm had the original fiat 500 in white i think but not so sure would like to check but if i ask i might ive up the surprize...

U see i did not tell them im buying the car for them LOL :p

Al do I know if i would ask... they would most probably say either RED or WHITE... The grey color they seen as i have a very simmilar one on my Golf 6 but they are very traditional when comes to color.

I know the benefits of the grey mettalic as someone metioned i go for a month not washing my car and no big deal still looks decent... and when washed it litterary shines. Also after 1.5 year the paintwork on my grey metalic graphite golf is as it was when i got it....

Now with some more details in my dilema lets her some more answers... need to mayke decision in 6 hours to still sign the papers today and for them to prep the car.

Im delivering it next week to my mom and dad

OK so now we are choosing for you something that is not for you but for you to give to someone else!

I think the only things we can say are the objective facts:

* if it is the same in Slovakia as the UK, BNW gets a tick for being free
* grey gets a cross for being marginally less visible, so less safe
* grey gets a tick for rarity value (and, again, if its the same where you are, BNW gets a cross)
* red gets a cross for chipping more easily and fading more over time
* white gets a tick for being the same colour as the primer
*grey gets a tick for hiding dirt better.

Here's an idea: would the dealer accompany you and one member of his staff to drive all three cars to your parents' house? Park them up outside, call them out and say "take your pick!"? That would be very cool in my book.

Now there is a real objective to the point answer much appreciated (y)

Love the idea of driving the cars showing them of to my parents problem wit that is they live in Slovenia and thats 400 kilometers away... so not possible.

Around RED chipping more any threads on that is this common for Pasodoble Red?

Around white and desairability there is not much of these cars in general where my parents live ...

Robin hi white looks horrible with scratches as the second you scratch it you see these Black marks on the car! You can see it from 100 meters away, the smallest of scratches!

I believe it is common knowledge. I don't think the red paint formula has been changed to improve things (although I may be wrong).

I have a red 500 & a white Panda. The white paint is a little less prone to chipping, though neither are that good. The red uses a white primer, which makes any top coat chips very noticeable; the white uses a grey primer which isn't quite as obvious.

From experience, the white paint is easier to maintain than the red.

I have a friend who has an electroclash 500, and that's quite badly chipped, too. The real difficulty is that any work with a touch-up stick seems to be far more noticeable on the electroclash car; you can get near-perfect results on the red & white ones.

The electroclash will likely show any swirls & scratches; the red is only a little better in this regard. White is probably the best colour of all for hiding small scratches.

Mine is white too. I don't have this problem. The car is a year old, and I wash it reasonably regularly.

I do not take it through car washes, even hand car washes as they tend to use dirty water, sponges and blades, all of which can scratch the car. When I wash it I use the two bucket method and a bobbly wash mitt, and dry it with a proper big drying towel.

Having said that, it does show the dirt badly - especially at this time of year.

Hi all,

so belive it or not went back to the dealer during my lunch brake to see if i can come to some conclusion and took with me 3 coworkers...

Now I wait for them to prep the car and I will drive it here for a week and then suprize delive it to my parents next saturday they have no clue its going to ba a blast :D

Ill post some pics when i get the car in a few days... for now thanks to all that chimed in with their comments much apprecited!
