General Hello and Fiat Panda 4x4's

Hi All

This is my first post, so Hi to everyone.

I'm after a cheep car to insure after my last car was written off . As I've had protected no claims I'm still got full discount that I want to keep, but after making a claim I can not buy another fast car as the insurance will still be a killer.

As I used a motorbike everyday I only need something cheep for the occasional journey where I need to carry a load.

I thinking of a Panda 4x4, but there does not seen to be many about.

How many of there are there, are what’s the chance of getting a cheep one? [?]

A Panda is a sound choice, but I'd avoid a 4x4. As you've said, there aren't many about, and there's a lot to go wrong with them. Stick with a 2WD version and you'll enjoy it

If Peter is looking for a 'cheap car' I'd go for a '92 Panda (newer design with galvanised panels) because it doesn't have a cat, and has a carb that can be adjusted. Simple, easy, basic motoring [^]

And since he needs to 'carry a load', folding up the rear seats transforms it into a tardis They're far more practical than a Cinq or Sei.

I must argue with all the others, if you want a panda go for the 4x4 version or the special edition sisley, I had a sisley which I shared with my dad and boy what fun it was.

We brought ours for £300 in 1996 or 97 and when I was old enough to drive I used it as a learner car and eventually as my own car.

I would recommend a version before the FIRE engine was introduced because my mum also had a panda on a 93 plate and you could notice the difference in speed and acceleration, not much of a difference but you could feel it.

I saw a T reg panda sisley edition on Autotrader but this was an import from India (i think) and was left hand drive and that was going for £900.[:0][:0][:0]

I was looking for one of these quite recently but the prices varied from about £100 - £500.

The lack of go on 93 onwards isn't the Fire engine, it's "The Management".

My 93 CLX, which is probably going as intended now, still has significantly less poke than my daughters 90 CL.
They have the same engine: one SPI, the other carbed.

The CL verges on the dangerous when the roads are greasy if you floor it in first, or second, and you have to be a bit careful in third on roundabouts too... Huge fun.

My little Panda (when it goes) is like a pocket rocket. As it's a 89 model it's not galvanised so it's a bit of a rust-bucket on the doors and wheelarches.

Cheap insurance, excellent fuel consumption and fun Fun FUN!

Now I must get mine back on the road - my wife's Almera Tino is boring, so bloody boring ...

Actually I would love a Panda 4x4 - Sisley or not, if only to take the **** out of my work colleague with an early Range Rover! If you look at them side by side it's amazing how alike they look!

Not much really just the interior, wheels and graphics.

The interior has canoes stitched into the trim, seatbelts have sisley sewn into them and the seats are made of better material.

Wheels are painted white.

Some have SISLEY 4x4 written on the side of them

Oh, the headlights have washers on

The engines are the same up until the FIRE engine, there is even a 1.1 Sisley knocking about on import
