General Heating in New style Multipla

In a nutshell its crap ................ Any suggestions how to improve the heating from first start please I have to drive several miles before I even get a glimmer of heat . Spoke to agents who say its a characteristic ?
This is no good in this weather Im Bl@#$%^&* freezing in the mornings
Its the diesel eleganza I have got .

This is a problem on diesels as they are thermally more efficient they produce less waste heat so heating system suffers. Generally speaking there is very little you can do, as the thermostat will be shut and you are heating the coolant in the engine and the heating system, believe it or not the best thing is to avoid using the heater to start off with to avoid the heating system cooling the engine coolant as the engine warms up.

well i ve just swaped my petrol multipla (55plate)and it was **** in the morn
for heating up the car quick ive now got the diesel multipla seems ok

I am told ( whether true or not is another thing) you can get a diesel heater fitted that runs on diesel ? as a seperate entity ?

True or not true ?

I know you can get a seperate air conditioning unit . to get it colder ( great if I was in the sarahara)

What Would I get for a B reg Eleganza with twin electric sun roofs fitted
( factory fitted) diesel 12k on clock ...

I am one of the few Multipla owners here north in Finland. My Multi is fitted with a 1.6 petrol engine (=enough warm).
It's quite common here in Finland to install especially to cars with diesel engines an extra heater, which runs with the same diesel as the motor itself. There are two different ways to to it: either install the heater so that the heater starts after ignition or have a clock fitted so you can pre-heat the car before you start the car.
The extra heater starts a little bit after the motor and runs until the motor is warm enough. The pre-heating -system with a clock needs a good battery so if you drive only short trips after few weeks your battery is dead.

The 'keywords' to this system are Webasto and Ebespächer.

Earlier I had a Focus TDI Wagon fitted with a Webasto+clock. Wintertime here in Finland ( -20 C ), half an hour pre heating -> warm car, almost like in the summer...
