The little spigot on the underside of the air box is known to get block

Cleaned that too

I know brake cleaner degrades rubber, and I’m planning to replace that tube anyhow

Don't sweat it

Lots of people saying it will kill rubber

First off it isn't actually rubber but a synthetic, EPDM or similar

Second off, if you took the car to a garage, brake cleaner is more than likely what they would use and have been for decades

I took the drive belt off, and the noise is definitely still there

That's good we now need to sort the squeaky noise out

Doesn't come across too well on the videos

Appears to me to loudest nearest the timing covers

You can, just about pop the top cover off without removing anything else, not easy but doable

If it's behind there it should be noticeable louder with it removed

I’ll have to get to that tomorrow — I’ll run the risk of making too much noise after dark
