I’ll leave off soon — I’m really grateful and I know what I’ll work on first thing in the morning —

I’m seeing that potentially piston rings/oil being in the cylinder with the combustion could maybe explain why the MAP is covered in oil —

Is that a likely hypothesis for this car?

So I cleaned my MAP this morning and it seems to be running a bit worse

Really not a good idle

I had already scheduled to pick up new tires for 140, but I’m wondering if I should hold off on that until I get to the bottom of this

See if all cylinders are firing correctly

Unplug a HT lead of one at a time start the engine
Switch the engine off and plug it back, repeat for the other 3 cylinders

Do any of the leads make no difference

Here's mine it's a 2011 so it has one coil block under the air box, earlier cars have two coil on the right hand side but the principle is the same

Also at the end I run it on two cylinders so you can see what it sounds like

Also check the inlet manifold isn't leaking

Engine should stop immediately and hold a vacuum

Be awaiting it's quite a vacuum

All the leads made about the same difference, might have thought the 4th cylinder had biggest impact but probably tricking myself

I also heard like a pressure release after I turned off the engine each time

This looks exactly like what just happened

Also, this is very kind of you to do all of this and the filming

It's unlikely to be a head fault causing the idle issue

Is it rough idling or is the revs going up and down

So is the car driving well at this point in time

The noise is at the front

Does it sound worse from underneath

Is the MAP covered in oil again
