I have a 2023 Carthargo Liner for 2 built on a Fiat Ducato. The last couple of months we have a problem when taking bend or mini roundabouts ever at a snails speed. It's definitely some sort of inertia switch that is causing this. Obviously the motorhome dealer is clueless and completely useless Carthargo tell me to visit a Fiat Commecial dealer. This I have done and they could't find or solve the issue. Apart from being frustrating whoever follows us gets pretty pi**ed off when my hazards keep coming on. After 4 sets of flashes they turn off. This only happens on cornering and or breaking. Anyone got any ideas of how to cure it?

To be fair most of us would be clueless as its such an unusual fault. I would suspect a wire is chafing and shorting somewhere when you turn the wheel. But in the trade we tried to avoid taking on jobs like that because you can spend many hours finding the fault when its only a 5 minute job to put right - and then what can you charge for it?

I don't think this is a chaffing issue, it's more of an inertia issue. I did read somewhere that the is a G-(G force) setting in the EMU but i would have thought that the commercial dealer would have found this . Maybe the Fiat dealer is rubbish and I should try a different one??

The only inertia switch I know of stops the diesel fuel supply if it thinks you have had a crash

Owners handbook shows emergency braking can trigger hazard warning lights in some markets.
I don't think cornering should trigger hazard lights (-:

It is faulty, you may have to demonstrate the problem to the/a fiat professional dealer to get them to acknowledge it , log it as a problem under warranty.

Do you have cornering lights / foglights?
The things that it triggers in my mind.

Door locks / alarm
Electric power steering but I dont think you have this.

When you say cornering, how fast and how much steering input is there? Gentle / gradual turns dont put much G force around.
Movement at the doors could trigger microswitches.

Im also wondering if there is water in something, that causes a short??

Do you have hazards that turn on under hard braking, could there be a misaligned G sensor I wonder.

I don't drive the motorhome aggressively especially when cornering otherwise all of the cupboards and the contents would be all over the floor. It seems to be under braking and cornering and sometimes speed bumps, which leads me to think that it is some sort of G-force switch. If I drove on the motorway for 3 hours it wouldn't happen once. If when I exit the motorway there is a roundabout then 80% chanch they would flash 5 times. I have taken the motorhome to a Fiat Commercial repair shop who drove it around their large carpark to reproduce the fault, then in rthe workshop for 40 mins then back round the carpark. 5 hours later they told me "we haven't got a clue" They claim they have contacted Fiat Tec support but everytime we call them they say they are still waiting for a response. So that's the current situation. I did think that maybe it's something to do with the alarm and some form of anti highjack mode. So my next step is to try and disable the alarm completely (not an easy task) then re test

You may have to keep contacting the fiat garage until it is easier for them to chase Fiat rather than tell you they haven't heard from Fiat.

I can only think that there is an issue with the ABS. Maybe a brake sensor or probably more likely a wiring fault in part of the ABS circuit. The fact that this occurs over speed humps as well as on moderate cornering would lead me to check the ABS sensors, mounting and wiring and get the ABS system checked from one end to another. I would also look at the connections on the main ecu and try some gentle probing of the wires and see if this has any impact. I think the 'g' sensor is a function of the abs and the brake pedal switch so also check those connections. The brake pedal switches seem to cause a lot of issues on a variety of vehicles, they are prone to failure without warning. I would probably change this too at an early stage and see if that changes things. I hope you are able to get to the bottom of this. A diagnosis with MES and some live data while driving might help. Good luck.
