Hi,

after swapping rear shoes, the handbrake lever (while handbrake on) is scratching hub/ABS ring. Looks like the lever is going too far forward. These shoes are the only available here. Any ideas? Cut piece of lever? Thanks
Dont have actual photo, unfortunately I already trashed old (factory) shoes ;-(

Any chance if self adjuster manually adjusted to normal correct "adjusted" position before drum replaced that the handbrake lever movement doesn't travel so far towards hub/ABS ring?
Many rely on self adjusters , but I always manually adjust to optimum position just allowing drum to slide on without binding. before adjusting handbrake cable if required, although often not needed after my "manual" adjustment.
Note, I always operate foot and handbrake multiple times after assembly then road test and check again so never binding.:)
Pity old shoes discarded.:(
Was there a choice of shoes from supplier?

These shoes are the only available here and they are all same. Drum was pretty tough to dismount and pedal travel was fine, so I guess it was tensioned just fine. But good points, I will check all these while Fixing It Again on weekend ;-)
Maybe it wasnt tensioned enough, and only cable was holding shoes in place..?

Is there a "wear ridge" in the brake drums making it hard to pull drum off over the brake shoes.
That is always a pain and often involves the anti rattle springs and washer getting damaged.
It also makes it harder to manually adjust to a close tolerance.:(
