Panda (Classic) Grumbleweed

Introduction

been stubbornly refusing to stir outside the panda section for a long while but put a fair bit of time into tidying the old lad up this summer so thought I'd stick some photos together to show the state of play just now.
So for those of you who aren't al ready au fait, this is Grumbleweed, a 1990 Panda Sergio Tacchini with a mix of scrapyard warrior mods and fresh bits:

look! even found some scenery to take some pics:)

Highlights include the new mk2 golf splitter and chavtastic blue lensed driving lamps (they were reduced OK) in the front bumper, Momo steering wheel, aftermarket gearknob on shortened gearstick, 40mm drop on new standard shocks, mystery retro pepperpot wheels (anybody any idea? came off a Tipo in a scrappy) converted to Uno electronic dizzy, K&N panel filter in standard airbox with shortened intake, Powerflow stainless exhaust rear section with Y10 standard front section, array of extra instrumentation (tacho, oil pressure and volts) and assorted other bits and bobs dotted around that my father in law (the previous owner) fitted and I just find out about when new stuff I buy mysteriously doesn't fit:confused:
Andrew.
andrew i'm digging the instrument pod was it hard to install? what are all the dials is there a rev counter?

Easy enough to install the pod, but mainly because I already had all these dials in so the wiring was all there, just a case of installing theminto something neater. The middle one's a rev counter, had a bigger one before so I need to see how I get on with it.

That's a refreshing change Andrew, although I do like the others.

They look to be in good nick, how do they compare sizewise?
Size is identical, 13x5.5 with 165/65s on, slightly higher offset. Put them back on as much as anything to use up the tyres a bit, been on the wheels for ooh 7 years or so but stashed in the shed for the last 3 so I reckon if I don't get the wear out of them soon they'll be knackered. I'm always a bit torn really because I actually prefer those rims but they're a bit predictable on a Panda. The others are a lot more unusual and always get comments.. Might well have swapped back by Stanford Hall.

Yahey, decent weather at last! been flat out all day.
Facelift for the roof lining as the big brown stain above my head has been annoying me for years:

Spot the replacement! needs a bit of blending in maybe but my door now no longer flaps about like it's about to fall off:

Rust been creeping out from under the screen rubber for the last couple of years now so I was dreading what I might find, but bit the bullet and removed the screen today and that tiny hole over the demist vent was the worst I found!! wasn't even worth filling, just got it all cleaned down and protected, quick dusting of pound shop matt black and back together.

Aaaand, the dreaded bonnet, been the bane of my life last few weeks and only rubbish weather and a drive to paint it. It looked dreadful this morning so spent an age out with the rubbing compound and T cut just flatting back and polishing up while it was off to get at the scuttle. Still not perfect but at least it's not a complete embarrasment for the upcoming shows, and a million times better than the flaky lacquer it had developed before:

So that's it all back together. Just can't put it off any longer, I am actually going to have to put my new sump on tomorrow. Horrible job:yuck: but it is starting to ooze oil on my drive now, like there isn't enough on there already!!
Anyway, here's the end of today's:

# oops, note to self..put windscreen wiper back on!!!

Well, here's hoping he makes it to Scotland in the morning. Just about finished up today tinkering and about to start polishing and hoovering
etc when I jacked up the passenger side to swap the decent gearbox oil back in and watched my engine oil dribbling out of the cambelt end of the new sump I just put on:bang: 5 pm the night before a show and Grumbles was back up on my ramps and I had to start taking the stupid sump off and refit again:mad: Not quite what I had planned. Here's hoping the oil stays put tomorrow, it is quite a long way!!
