Hi all, I hope someone can point me in the right direction. My partners Punto Evo 2010 1.4 multi air has a grinding noise coming from the front of the car while driving. The noise disappears while accelerating so only happens while coasting. I’ve changed the brake pads and discs as I thought this could be the noise but it’s still there. It’s not too bad while the car is cold but gets worse after a couple of miles of driving. I’ve had the front end jacked up and run it through the gears and there’s no noise but with the wheels on the ground and dry steering there is a clicking sound. All ball joints seem fine. I am wondering if the CV joint has gone but wanted to hear peoples opinions first before I start firing the parts cannon at it so to speak. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Come on, it's a year 2020-what, 5 (five)? Record this sound and post video here (or on YouTube, whatever).
Also, you can check other existing videos, noises out there.
Learn how the failures sound like: wheel bearings, brakes, suspension, steering (strut mount has a bearing), gearbox/differential, CV joints, clutch.
There's no need to ask people anymore. All those signature sounds are recorded already somewhere. Just Search (start on YouTube).

I have already searched online etc, this is my last ditch attempt to get any more advice, yes I could post a video of the sound but what’s the harm in getting some suggestions first? I don’t get why you’ve had to be sarcastic? If you don’t have any constructive advice don’t bother replying

Going over your replies to other people you look like a complete ****** anyway, suppose it’s easy to give people sarcastic comments online and not to their face!

Have you taken a look at the CV boots? are they in good condition ?

Could be the CV joint needs some grease and you might get away with it. Worth a shot to begin with.

Ignore above, just consider yourself lucky he didn't suggest you get an oscilloscope out....

Thank you for the constructive reply, they were in good condition but I may see if they need greasing, there’s no sign of grease any where but obviously that doesn’t mean they are dry. Thanks again

So, another 'sarcastic comment'
Why bother, or is it just to boost your ego!!
(better to say nothing, and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth, and prove it!)
