Ive just bought a 2002 punto active sport 1.2 petrol. I have noticed a faint orange warning light on the rev counter, I looked in the hand book and the light is a warning light for the glow plugs. My car is a petrol model and doesnt have glow plugs, can anyone tell me what this light is for? or why it is on.
The engine mount under the engine is very loose so I will fix this, but could that be why the glow plug light is coming on?
Thank you.

Sounds like a fault with the instrument panel.

:yeahthat:

Get it on multiECUscan... see if the glowplug light signal is on the CAN network. I'm guessing it probably won't be which would indicate instrument cluster fault.

Is everything else on the cluster working? If there are other faults, it may just be a dodgy connection... I wouldn't expect it to be a bad connection though if everything else is fine. In that case I would take out the cluster and look at the PCB for anything obvious that could be causing a short or an open circuit.

The same instrument panel is probably fitted to both petrol and diesel versions so the glow plug symbol will still be there, but should remain off in a petrol car. If you can see a glow from it, it's probably light bleed through from another warning light or one of the panel illuminaton lights.
