my grandpa has a 2002 MK2 80ELX with only 36K/M on the clock. he doens't drive it much at all. it's an automatic gearbox.

he went to do a normal 40K/120K treatment at a local FIAT garage and they changed the oil in the gearbox + the filter which costs around 130US$.

no one here knows if it had to be changed or not. on the service book it says it should be never changed.
I wish I could upload the invoice or something but it's all in hebrew (I'm from Israel).

please let me know, thanks

Off the top of my head I would have said that the Fiat service centre would be following Fiat's recommendations.

Low mileage is no excuse for not getting it done, it is a 7 year old car after all.

The handbook doesn't mention it because it does not cover automatic transmission. I presume there will be a supplement for the auto box.

Cheers

I know the gearbox oil should be changed but the filter?
it's a CVT gear. on the manual it says not the change the filter
