Hey Everyone
I'm new to the forum, just ordered my brand new Panda 1.3 MJ in cumbia beige with alloys! The bad news is 8-10 wks delivery!!!

Anyway the dealer tried to sell me GardX (similar to diamonbrite, supergard etc) for £300 the pitch sounded convincing but I didn't like that price tag. A bit of searching on line paid off and I just bought the entire GardX kit off ebay for £20. Not a bad saving!

Only problem is now I have to apply it myself (gulp) does anyone have any experience of doing this? would really appreciate some tips, I don't want to mess up my new car!!!!

Cheers

yes take your time........

first off you need to make sure the cars paint is 100% clean (there are better waxes and sealants available but since you have ordered it lest stick with it)

wash the car using the 2 bucket method

then clay bar the car.

i'd recommend this (in soft)

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/autoclay-soft.php

now you need to clense the paint and remove any other residue

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/dodo-juice-lime-prime-lite-pre-wax-cleanser-250ml.php

then apply as per instructions... (usually remove sponge from packing and stab it (this breaks the vial of sealant) spread over the car (including door shuts)

leave for X amount of time (know autoglyms equivalent is about an hour)

then buff off....

interior treatment make sure interior is fully clean and dry

apply spray in well ventilated area

wipe off any over spray

leave to dry (leave car open)

Great info thanks!! I have not used a clay before but after reading that link I am totally sold.

One thing though, the kit I bought comes with a bottle of pre-sealant to be applied before the main one. This sounds quite similar to the pre-wax primer you recommend. Do you think I need to use both or will I just be doing the same thing twice??

Thanks

Well the car finally arrived and I set to work. 30 mins with the sponge (was already spotless) + 1hr with the clay + 2.5hrs with the GardX stage 1 and 2, one panel at a time. 4 hours later and i'm knackered, but the car does look really shiney!!! Lets hope this GardX stuff lives up to all it's hype!
