Tips for exhaust tip cleaning

Hello ladies and gentlemen in all your experience what would you recommend for get the shine back and getting rid of all the burnt on **** on the box and the tip. It's a stainless steel setup but it's a good 3 years old and a tad faded now.

I've been told wire wool but I thought I'd ask here first.

00 grade wire wool and autosol metal polish plus some very serious elbow grease. Itll clean up but it will take a fair while and lots of trying.

Where would sell this wire wool? And I'm sure most metal polishers will do the job or Is that type something you've used before?

I use autosol, its fantastic stuff and you dont need an awful lot of it. Use whatever you like though i was just recommending.
Hardware stores should sell that sort of grade.
You could get it online as well.

How does the grade system work is #00 finer than #00 0?

Autosol is brilliant I use it in my exhsust tips and grills .

It's 6 pounds from Halfords and it's in like a superglue style bottle is this the right one??

Yeah its a gold coloured tube i think! As long as it says autosol

Think I'll pick some up next weekend and spend all day Sunday on it then. I'll "aquire" some wire wool from work

Good luck lad! Itll take some time! Dont forget its not all carbon, some of it will be tar as well.

Yeah I had a quick play with some wire wool today it cleaned up nicely around it but right next the opening it's well and truly burnt on there good and solid haha think I may be a while on that bit lol. I suppose time will tell though

Youll have trouble with the inside it will take a looong time if its been 3 years haha

No no not the inside a long drive with clean that out I mean right on the edge like the lip of the opening if you know what I mean haha

Scotchbrite or failing that the less posh version a sponge pan scouring pad ..........just don't tell the wife why the fry up tastes barbecued after you 'borrowed' it ;-)
