Looking down the front of my 1.2 active with the bonnet open, I can see the cross member below the slam panel is absolutely shot to pieces with rust almost none existent! How much do you reckon it will cost at a body shop to have a new one tacked in?
Anybody else had this problem, I've seen new cross members for around £30
I imagine it's just a case of wipping the front bumper off and cutting the scabby one out then welding the new bit back in?

yes but if xmember corroded so are all bumper fasteners
its quite involved chopping out these xmembers as they are also the point where tow eye hook secures to so need properly welding

wont be cheap im afraid
best find a local indy willing to take it on if hes a bit slack on trade:)

I've never noticed a rust problem with the mk2, so is it possible that this is a poor repair job from a previous front-end shunt? Cost me about £90 to get my ventilated footwell welded back together after an incident with a jack.
