Have alook at the looms properly.

work out the speaker wires, and leave them
leave yellow/red and black earth wire,

anything left over, snip it,.

you only need yellow /red and earth
and the speaker wires,

any other odd solid colours pink /blue chop and make them safe insulate them in someway,

thats what id do anyway,
try at your own risk

to be honest i cant see why you need the ebay lead according to the specs on google etc but why would they sell a lead you dont need ??
only difference i can see is the fact that the power plugs are the other way round. maybe that your stereo is faulty ??
if your radio has proper ISO connectors then maybe just change the jumper will do without the ebay lead .

iagree,
idont think ebay lead is needed,

some wire chopping is needed tho,
blue wire is trigger wire for a external amp ithink, (remote)
there might be pink wire too ilum wire needs snip,

wiring diagram that came with hu will tell you,

yes can probably get away with just changing link over, im a bit concerned that had problem connecting first time as usualy even if power cables reveresed (as in ign / perm 12v) are wrong way then usualy just does not hold stations etc , very odd.
i would connect the ebay lead as well but as oldhammer said might be a idea to cut some wires if you still having problems, you only need the black / red / yellow in plug A

I wish you could just fit this dam thing for me :bang:

Oh god.... back to square one again (n)

no initialy we didnt know how and what you were plugging in. now we have some decent pics of the leads you are using we can see whats going on
plug it all in with ebay lead this time.
the strange thing is I cant see from the pics what the ebay lead actualy does as looks like the wires just go to the same pins on the socket
but that moght be just the pictures

Hi.

Jon the OP has a mk2b without the 7 speaker system (sub in boot) and as such there is no IGN+ (switched live) as the radio is purely CAN controlled.

If you look at his first set of pictures, the connector block has a perm 12v + and a Negative and 2 CAN connection lines. The problems arise when you back feed down these CAN connection lines. This can trigger EML, EPS warning lights and can cause further damage.

The ebay link that the op posted doesnt show any wiring diagrams of exactly what the harness does, like you say, to me it just looks like an ISO to ISO adapter.

The OP needs to be sure that whatever way he fits the headunit that there will be NO back feed down the can lines, and that both a perm 12v + and and switched live will be supplied to the HU on the correct pins.

you will note i kept out of this thread because ive already made a sticky for anyone that wants to do this right
for those that dont understand canbus i suggest they google it over a long cocoa

whats it got to do with CANBUS ?
both my punto and panda worked straight away with just ISO lead, no extra power supply needed from anywhere.
ok i will keep out of it before I say something i shouldnt.
good luck fitting it. :(

AND THIS IS A CLOSE UP OF THE NEW HEAD UNIT LEADS, AND THEN WITH THE EBAY AND HEAD UNIT PLUGGED IN TOGETHER....

Too many wires on power side of the loom you got with aftermarket headunit.
ithink thats wired up for Jap cars,

you only need black,(earth)
yellow (Memmory)
Red (ignition live)

other ebay lead needs blue wire snipping in middle,

thats my shot at it anyway,

does that make any sense ?

ihope so anyway, ;)
