Technical Fitting my aftermarket stereo

I connected the lead that came with the stereo - I plugged it straight into the Fiat's wiring loom (which is when disaster struck! (n))

i assume you had it connected to radio at the time as well or not,
you may need to swap the yellow and red wires thats why they have bullet connectors in them
so you can swap them, one is permanent 12 feed and the other is switched feed

but looking at the leads and the handbook everything looks right as they are set.
when did it it all go tits up, when you turned ignition on or before that ???

you need to use both leads, first the one from ebay to connect to the car loom which converts it to dual plug ISO then the one from that to the one that came with the stereo which has dual plug ISO sockets on it then the other end has JVC plug on it straight into radio

which one did you use ?
the one that came with head unit or the ebay one?

ithink blue wire on ebay one wouid cause issues,
ithink irember having one of these in one of my punto's ive still got unit and wiring somewhere iwill check, but ithink blue wire was chopped and insulated,

No I didn't get around to even trying the ebay one because it doesn't fit the back of stereo, so I began by just using the one that came with the stereo.

REALLY????

No rigging up a fuse onto the cigarette lighter, just plug BOTH leads in, and bobs my uncle?

no it wont, you need to use both, the jvc lead is ISO to JVC but fiat is not ISO so you need the ebay cable inbetween.

old hammer the blue wire is just for illumination comes from side light connection, so if you have radio on and lights on it dims display to avoid glare, probably needs setting up in menu though

Sorry, I seem to be reading these posts backwards.... yes, I plugged the head unit leads in, AND the radio aerial, the stereo made a noise like it was loading a CD, I turned on the ignition, and the stereo was dead, and that's when the PAS light and engine light reared it's ugly head.... I then tried 3 more times to plug the cable in and out of the head unit without knowing I might be causing damage

if you have blue wire connected,
headlights will light come on when you switch radio on,

imight be wrong tho but ive seen this blue wire chopped on a fair few fiat radio
looms,

irip the aftermarket tat out and puts standard back in, less hastle,
and it looks better,

ive heard mk2b units play mp3s so why junk the fiat units

the ISO has power and accesory in/out puts on socket A
and 4 way speakers on socket B
Yes just plug in using both leads and bobs your uncle

:worship::):D(y)

THANK YOU THANK YOU

I am still going to be slightly nervous doing this tomorrow, but I trust your expertise.

I have no idea if you are right or wrong about the blue wire (obviously)
but as for getting rid of my Fiat unit, I didn't want to at all, but the CD player gave up on life unfortunately :(

you need to use both leads, when you plug in it will probably make a noise as you are connecting power. when you turn ignition on you may still have to press power button on unit ( thats if you havent damaged anything

Oh god.... I wish we had spoken about 50 threads ago and £100 ago..... I don't know what was wrong with it to be honest, it struggled to read discs, then it would play, but really fuzzy, cutting out, skipping....I just presumed it had passed away!
