Hi everyone,

I have a 2014 Fiat Punto Jet Black 2 (1.4 Petrol, 1368cc, Manual, Euro 5), and I’m facing a no-start issue. Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

Spark plugs are working fine

Fuel pump is working, fuel is coming from the pump

No fuel cut-off switch found

No fuel reaching the engine (fuel rail appears dry)

Scanned the ECU – the only error code is "Fuel Prime"

Mechanic suggested it might be an issue with the fuel system but couldn't confirm further

I’m wondering if this could be a fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, blocked injectors, or an ECU issue not commanding the injectors to open.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on further checks I should do before bringing in an auto electrician?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Never heard of gasoline/petrol FIRE engine throwing "fuel prime" error (car doesn't know if there's a fuel or not - and why).
Let the imaginary "mechanic" fix this car (it's a simple one).
You measure the pressure at fuel pump outlet and then check the hoses, rail, injectors. Easy.
Is it too complicated for "mechanic"?
I don't believe you that "fuel rail is dry".

Check other service news like that (there is more, starting/idle related ones).

What is the error code ? Rather than the description.
Somebody on this forum had something similar following a software reset that was fixed by running a procedure using multi ecu scan.....I can't recall all the details

There is a fuel cutoff ("FIS") reset (in Body Computer module), that's it.
But the pump is blocked (switched off) while this safety feature is active.

Anywho. The story about "mechanic" being not able to fix simple Fiat is fishy.
Folks, don't lie like that. Fairy-tales like that are very lame/stupid/pathetic.
User is asking for BASICS via forum, because mechanic can't find the problem. Yeah, right...

If code is p1110-54 then fuel system purge via mes or capable scan tool is required.
This is a very very rare code that very few people have encountered.

And "mechanic" can't type the code into Google...
It's too much for a professional ("too complicated" again).

Older MES programs have nothing related to fuel system (besides mentioned "FIS rearm" reset), ECU, Body.
It must the latest software trick, added to patch/mask a real mechanical/hydraulic problem.
The Basics still must be checked (mechanic should know what and how to check, measure - no excuses).

Simple petrol engines have two versions of fuel system: with return line or not (one hose goes to/from the pump).
That can change the diagnostics a bit (but still, mechanic must handle it). So that's not a "problem" also.
Even if there's an extra solenoid (purge) valve in the system (besides EVAP), it's still a simple-stupid system.

This is not an American car, where tiny EVAP leaks are detected ("MAP sensor" in the tank etc.).
