Hi everyone, I am new to this site so you will have to bear with me!
I have a 2008 Fiat Ducato 120 multijet van and approximately one month ago my windscreen wipers just stopped working, the strangest thing is approximately one hour later they started working again and have been fine until today.
I was two hours away from home today when they just decided to stop working, I have checked the fuse and that is fine but cannot get them to work.

Can any body help me?

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul. I have the same problem. My wipers stopped working and then decided they'd work again but only for an hour. It was in the garage for 4 days and they're still not working. They checked the wiring, changed the motor, body computer, control unit switch and nothing. Fiat have apparently said its a 'short' somewhere but nobody has any idea where it is likely to be. I like you am hoping there is someone out there who has had the same experience and found the problem. Mine is a multi jet 2007.

I know its not the most desireable solution but you could get an auto electrician in an old style relay using the existing switch or a multipole dash switch. Should cost a fraction of what you've paid.

Reminds me of a friend who had a saab with a rear light problem, saab dealer replaced, rear light clusters, looms, body computer, fuse box no change. Local auto electrician ran a single new wire front to back in 15 mins - €20.

Hi Ya there, I have just encountered the same problem as yourself with the wipers just going off, fuse is ok, I was just wondering if you managed to get the problem resolved (Fiat Ducato 160 multijet)

Kindest regards

Hi, did anyone find an answer to this problem?
This has just started happening on my 2008 Ducato. The wipers stop working for anything between 5 and 20 minutes, and then just start to work ok.

Had similar on 2006 2.3, wipers stopped, was out in pouring rain. Didn't have book so pulled each fuse and replaced, one looked slightly suspect so replaced and hey presto. Funny thing was fuse looked perfectly OK and even passed continuity test.

hi all, i'm suprised that you haven't of an aerosol product called servisol super 10 switch and contact cleaner. i have found that, on my 1996 ducato, the fuses sometimes oxidise causing them to fail. if you remove a fuse and give both the fuse and its holder a spray the servisol removes all dirt, grease and corrosion and the fuse works perfectly. give them all a squirt while you're at it. you can buy servisol at many accessory shops or at maplins for a couple of quid or there abouts. it also works on circuit boards and can be used even when the circuits are live.

Just an update, All connections and fuses clean, I found that a little tap on the wiper motor and the wipers work fine for a while. So it looks like the wiper motor needs an over haul or renewing.

Yes, I've got the same problem on a Mk2 Fiat Punto. An intermitant fault - my favourite sort !!
Sometimes the windscreen wipers work, sometimes they don't. Is it most likely to be the motor, the steering column multyswitch or something else ??
Ian !!

Getting an old post is this ....but I'll do me best .............I had this on both my Land Rover & my Volvo C70................. Intermittant (fer no apparent reason) Wiper stoppage ......Where-as a sharp tap on the w/motor casing & they spring back into life ..............

I cured both with a swift visit to the local scrapper & "repatriated" a suitable replacement from various "wrecks" available

In BOTH cases my W/motors were "hot" to the touch .... After replacing the motors I tested them (continuity wiring ect) .... when first switched on NO PROBLEMS they worked OK....However after 15 to 20 minutes of use continuity failed thru the motor windings ..... My Conclusion was ........... the more the motor was used the hotter it became & eventually the motor windings parted due to "Heat Expansion" .......

The sharp Tap to the casing "Shocked" the windings & moved them a few micro millimeters making the motor function correctly again until the heat built up again & again the Winding parted ......
Hope this of help to someone on here ..

STAY SAFE
