Hi there!

I recently bought a secondhand Fiat Ducato motorhome 1.9 TD from 2000. According to my mechanic, the horn is broken and must be replaced (don't know if it's the horn itself or wiring, etc.) and the windshield washer motor is broken too.

Since I like to get to know my camper, I would like to do these two things myself. In the past, I've always bought the Haynes Workplace Manuals for my vans, but I cannot find one for this model. Is there one or a similar book I can purchase/download, that can help me with these two things?

If any of you guys have any tips on where to find the horn or test whether it's the horn or the wiring and where I can find the windshield washer motor to replace it, let me know :) I'd like to get my hands dirty :)

In a few weeks we're leaving for denmark and I would like for at least these two things to work properly :)

Thanks guys!

Hi Walking Tak and welcome, To find the horn lift the bonnet and you will see 4 screws fixing the panel that holds the Fiat logo. remove these and carefully (there are clips at both ends of the panel) remove the panel. The horn should be visible under the headlight. Easy to remove but first drown it in WD40 and try working it with ignition on. It may just start on it's own. Mine was full of rust. There is only 1 wire connected to the horn as it is earthed to the body. This may need cleaning but I'm sure, having found the horn, you will know what to do. As for wiper motor, mine has never broken so I haven't got a clue. All the Best, Ian.

Hi again, Just re-read your post. Washer motor! Located under the washer reservoir. Remove single wire connection and give a good clean with Servisol switch and contact cleaner. Push connector on and off a few times to clean both parts. Problem is oxidisation again. If this does not work, remove reservoir. Mine is held by 4x 10mm. bolts. The motor should come out with the reservoir. I hope this doesn't sound like teaching granny to suck eggs but I'm not a mechanic, I can only quote from experience and hope that your van layout is similar to my 1996 1.9td. Don't bother looking for any kind of manual. Fiat never made one as far as I know and God knows I've looked. This Forum is best for people willing to ask but, please, give as much information as possible for, hopefully, reliable answers. Best of Luck, Ian.

Thanks for the reply! I'll have a look this afternoon and see what I can find.

Re the horn, if power is getting to it, but not working due to lack of use etc. This may sound a bit violent , but I have found in some cases, having someone hold the horn button on and giving the horn a clout with a hammer after spraying WD40 into the trumpet, shocks it into working and if it sounds "croaky" there is usually an adjuster that can be turned to "tune" the horn, after that occasional use should keep it functioning.:)

So I've ordered the wrong washer pump, but initially I've found out where the pump is hiding... So, Ordering the correct one, returning the incorrect one, and hopefully installing it correctly (working hehe). Now the horn is a totally different story.. I can't find the damn thing anywhere... Anyone have any good ideas or at least anyone who knows where I can find the workshop manual? I've found out it's the 230 model.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

What details do you need ? If it is normal servicing spec., timing belt details etc. if you post engine Series number and exact cc I may be able to help.
Not if general instructions on how to work on a vehicle as my details are for the motortrade so would know the basics already, hopefully;)

Type in Fiat then Ducato and variant , it seems to list the Mk 2 to 2006
They do online versions but best to go for the hard copy book.
