General Fiat 500 x Cross Plus - engine noise

Hello Everyone, second question from me - hope that is ok? I am in the process of purchasing a 2021 Cross plus 1 litre, 19k on the clock. I have test driven the car and it drives well and all electrics etc. appear to be in good working order. Checked under the bonnet and looks clean and no obvs signs of issues (that I can see but not an engineer!). I currently have a 500 lounge - the engine on the X makes much more noise. I was concerned if this could be a belt issue or similar - garage guy said it's all fine. I test drove a 2018 X plus at another garage and the engine sounds pretty much the same - so in a limited test it seems like the engine is making more noise that the 500.

Do any owners of an X plus have similar engine noise?

Where are you getting it? I am getting a 2019 Cross Plus in Kent this Saturday. I have driven two in the last week and the engine sounded unusual to what I am used to i.e. a 1.4 16v Fiat Idea.

In the South West, also this Saturday - kind of reassuring if you found similar noise – sounds like a diesel compared to the 500 – and that’s not exactly shielded from engine noise. Anyhow, thanks for your response, I like the X and hopefully all’s well that ends well!

I have never heard a 1.0L Cross Plus Engine. It may sound different to other MulitAir engine because I believe it is:

1) A 3 cylinder Engine
2) Has all aluminium engine block
