F FF fff FF fiat Punto 199, 2010 1.2 Evo active...

I knew the lads Punto headlight were playing up...all lights working normally but high beam not staying on. Headlamp flash working normally.

Other faults list...

Car starts and runs as it should...

High beam not staying "on" as they should, dip beam ok as is headlight flash...

Hill assist and esp flashes as unavailable, usually at same time, intermittently but regularly....

Beep hill assist dash warning, then, beep esp dash warning, then repeat with no bleep.....

Select menu to register as understood, but dash warning lights ( for hill assist and esr ) stay on.

Sometimes "fuel cut off inoperative ( light and bleep ) comes on same time intermittently ( engine surges ) dash light stays on...

Turn engine off, count to ten, turn on, start, all ok, untill.....

Lad has replaced brake light switch with oe part.

He has been researching these faults....

So, removed parts as necessary today, found 3 suspect wires in rear hatch loom, no broken wires found but bare conductor wires( cracked or cut insulation ) , meaning they may have touched earth ( metalwork of car ) or each other, intermittently, causing ECU confusion.

Insulated and reassembled...

Car now behaving with even the headlamp hi beam working properly now....

Some more stuff to do/check, like underneath bonnet fuse box...

Under bonnet fuse box totally different to the one in owners handbook...

Not much use...

No boot fuse box found.

Cabin fuse box well hidden, very difficult to see and acces, lad to post picture.....

1.2 8 Valve petrol 199 model ?

Anyone have a bonnet fuse box layout and list of fuse and relay function etc. Please ?

Are the relays so this Punto *solid state electronic relays* rather then electromagnetic moving contact type, old school relays....

No relay in the bonnet fuse box "clicks" like old school relays do...

Anyone know ???

If the faults don't seem to make sense, check the Earths and the battery poles.

For the fuse boxes, see here

Thanks zardo,

Klicking *see here* results in blank screen on phone, but when I go to library again I think something will open up.

We have earth locations info from Elearn from on here...

Hoping to check main earth lead, the heavy alloy one tomorrow, preying for nice warm dry day like today....

Waiting for lad to get home to check today's work on car.....

Will get them printed off in library first thing tomorrow. Gunna be another nice day.

Yhr lad should be posting picture of cabin fuse box which is quite deeply recessed being glove box....would appreciate diagram and fuse numbers, functions and ratings please.

Thangs again Zordo, really appreciated, thanks.

This is the passenger cabin fuse box....

A diagram with fuse number, rating and function would be brilliant please...

Yes, I don't think those yellow plastic fuse grippers are going to do it.

I wonder if long nosed pliers made of none conducting material are made.....

I will get a cheapo very long nose pliers, heat shrink insulation on e4nds and handle. May even make a groove for the fuse to grip/sit in, fully insulated.

Relays, solid state electronic relays ??

Anyone know as no relay has been heard to click like old school electromagnetic "normal" relays.......

All info relating to fuses and relays now printed off.

Thanks again ZARDO, I am sure you have helped out quiet a few people with the info, thanks, very very much appreciated.

I think i got the yellow fuse puller to work, but it wasn't easy.

They're supposed to click as far as i know. They're old school relays. So maybe a problem if you can't hear one.

Will try again when lad gets home from work.....

Rain tomorrow ( day out to railway exhibition where the lad works ) but gunna be nice over weekend.....

Managed to change the daylight driving light bulbs, n/s just about manageable from under bonnet.....rather than via screw held wheel arch plastic flap.

That little b%£$"*&d is gunna be removed when front brake pre mot check wheel off comes around maybe this weekend.....

When i bought my EVO it had a day light running dashboard error...but the bulbs were working. So i turned them off in the car menu and just manually turn the lights on myself for each journey, dashboard error solved, sort of!
