Hello everyone,

I had a feeling that the heating performance in cold weather is not great while driving.
This is what I measured today.

City driving at 14°C, from cold start

After the drive, I let it idle for 6 minutes.

I was expecting that the engine will heat-up to 88°C and stay there.
Thermostat stuck, replace?

Thanks!

Thermostats are very inaccuratre, 95 might not be too far off, If climbed above 95 then I'd be more concerned.

What usually happens is that the rubber seal inside the thermostat fails, allowing coolant to bypass the thermostat even when it's fully closed. If this happens, the engine won't warm up properly and fuel economy will suffer.

Be aware that a thermostat with a failed internal seal will appear to operate normally if you do a boiling water test.

This is a common issue. The solution is to replace the thermostat, which is straightforward.

New thermostat is ordered, I picked one with metal hose connector instead of the original plastic one.
Thanks to all of you for the replies!
