Technical Exhaust

Hi. My Punto's exhaust needs replacing. It's snapped on the flexi pipe. I've tried ordering a new one from the likes of ebay and what turned up was a centre section of exhaust with out a box on it. Where mine has a box on it. Is there a difference, can the one without a middle box be fitted to mine. I'm just a bit confused as to why there is 2 exhausts for the same car! Any info would be grateful, and many thanks in advance.

There are two. Ours has the straight pipe, 1.2 8V 2001. I think the sporting 16V have the box. The box probably has to do with controlling back pulses in the exhaust but I don't know if you would notice any difference. More knowledgeable folk will be along soon.

Cool, Thanks! I know mine is a 1.2 16v automatic, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it!
