Hi

Im hoping a few members on here have had this done so can give me a rough idea on Costs. Basically my cousin ended up damaging the engine Block on his Car when he had a bump and now needs to replace it. He wanted to know how he could do at for minimal cost? Is he going to need a new engine. If so how much would someone charge as a rough idea to do a straight engine swap, is it a big job and how long would it take.

I know a few people on here have had engine replacements done or have swapped to bigger engine. Dont know if the cost would differ but this is a straight swap.

Thanks

Like Arc says, we really need to know what type of car he has, as it could be everything from £50 for a second hand panda engine, to Thousands of £££ for a bugatti veyron engine.

John, its not for satty, its for his cousin ;)

Satty, the cheapest way for your cousin to do it is to either buy a scrapyard engine and fit it himself, or buy an accident damaged car and take the engine and ancillaries from that and sell the rest of the parts.
You say the engine damage is due to a bump. Dunno how extensive the damage is, but the damage may make engine removal more difficult and more expensive. I would budget anything from 250 - 500 odd quid to buy and fit a second hand engine....................chances are something else will need replacing or is due replacement, so its always best to budget for unforseen little bits :)

Hi

Its not for me or my lovely sei (still going strong :) well except a snapped clutch cable 2 weeks back but not bad for nearly 18 months ownership)

Sorry its for his fiesta mk6 1.25 Zetec, he's found an engine including all the bits ECU, Ancillaries etc.., he's looking for a garage to do but was wondering how much its gonna cost his to get it fitted. Im hoping someone could suggest somewhere or tell him a rough idea on what the cost to do an engine swap is likely to be. £500 just to fit seems abit steep is this a normal price. Wow i wonder how many hours it takes.

There are two places near me that would do it for around £200 - £250 labour excluding parts.

I got a quote for a mate of mine for £150 Labour to swap a Honda Civic Coupe Engine excluding parts (Oil, Sparks, Fuel Filter, Oil Filter, Potential Timing Belt change etc)

I would say thats a pretty good figure to work on trance, anything between £150-£250 i would say but ive always put my own in:slayer: , it aint as hard as you think if youre confident of your own ability.(y)
For £500 i,d expect them to be supplying the engine aswell!!(n)

thanks guys I'll pass that on to him, £250 tops isn't too bad i think he was worried it would be nearer the £500-£700 mark. Good news, now just need to find someone reliable to fit it in Hudds.
