I have a fiat 500l 2013 on 63 Plate engine management like came on. So I went to my local garage and he popped it onto the computer and stayed A fault cold P0520 Oil pressure sent switch, so So manage to find a oil pressure sensor switch new, so we ordered it. It came, and we put it on, did not work. It's fault cold is still there. Engine ankar is running absolutely fine. Not in limb mode, but constant. Engine management light onI rang Fayette up telling him what the problem was. And they advised you have to get a genuine oil pressure sensor switch from them. So OK65 pound later, new oil sensor came from fiat, popped that into the car, Carl went into limp mould. Engine management light would not turn off. So we decided to take the genuine fiat one out and put the other one back in top the car out of limp mode but engine management light is still on.Can anybody advise please

Year
2013
I have the exact same problem. Car runs fine so ive just left it but would like to know if you managed to resolve it

Must be the time of year for it; my EML and ! are both lit, and my OBD-II scanner also says P0520. Clearing the codes doesn't clear the fault. I might need to get my hands dirty!

OP or anyone else, per this thread it seems there are two separate oil pressure sensors fitted to 1.6 diesel 500Ls. You might need to replace both (or at least, you won't automatically know which one is faulty).

Also got this issue myself. Owned the car about 2 weeks now. Mine is the 1.3

Started with flahsing oil light, engine light, "/! \" light
Serviced it, oil filter had collapsed. And it only had - 1.5L of oil in
Read the codes had a few reset them all.
Added 3.2L new filter. Engine light and! Still on.

Changed the preessure switch.
3 starts later (didnt reset the code) the eml goes off. Drives amazing.

Then cold start next day, engines hunting for about 10 seconds, after which drives and sounds fine.
Then get to some lights temp gauge is about half way to optimum.
Eml pops on again.
Plugged it in p0520

So reset it, took for a spin (upto temp now)
Turned on off a few times etc no eml driving fine.

Got a feeling itll be back again tomorrow after another cold start.

Not sure what the issue xould be, but the hunting previously for me on other cars is down to the MAF no fault codes for it though.

Cant check DPF on this car with my software for some reason. But hand under exhaust and it feels free flowing.

I put mine into the local garage (don't judge me, it was a combination of a lack of time and a disinclination to lie under my car on a gravel drive in the cold and wet).
They put it on their diagnostic machine. It turned out the oil pressure sensor was fine, but my alternator was failing and only delivering 11.something volts to the electrical system. I'm surprised it was even starting, but guess it had only happened recently enough that the battery was still holding out. Garage replaced the alternator and it's been fine ever since.
Do you have a voltmeter (or can you get the running voltage out of your OBDII code reader)?

11.7 volts when engine off. 12.3 when on. Starts fine every time

Ill give it a trickle charge wnd see

Check wiring plug for corrosion and earth strap failing is common on alot of cars to engine due to exposure to water and vibration /movement just because the voltage is low doesn't mean it is the alternator could be the earth strap battery to engine
Ill definitely have a look at that, I should hsve checked really as i had to fix a 1999 fiesta with ecu issue and the earthing strap was none existant 😂

Did you get this sorted out in the end?

I've done almost 1000 miles since having my alternator replaced and my oil pressure sensor warning hasn't recurred.
