Technical Engine Light and Fault Codes - Help!

Dad was the one who did the thermostat / bled the system. I just checked with him and he said he only opened the top one?
You open the one at the top of the radiator and the one on the heater pipe, Fill very slowly until it starts to flows out of the radiator, close the radiator bleed screw, continue untill it flows out of the heater tube and close bleed valve, take it for a spin, open the bleed on the heater tube, slowly untill it just starts to hiss, wait until liquid comes out. Tighten and wait until it's cooled down, remove the radiator and top up the coolant if necessary

There very simple cars to bleed as long as you don't fill them too quickly, there's a one way valve built into the thermostat, so should self bleed fairly quickly

If it's been bleed properly, and If you can here bubbles circulating on first start up there's almost certainly something, low coolant level, air being sucked being the most common

I take it the noise is since the thermostat change

Yes, didn't have the noise before changing the thermostat.

Bubbles or sloshing
A sort of burbling, like water running through something on start up. To be fair, it stops pretty much as soon as you set off. It's why I wondered if it was just water caught I the scuttle and the start up vibrations were dislodging it.

Bubbles circulating before and after the thermostat change

Sounds more like

Air being suck via a small leak

Any pink staining anywhere

Or

Gasses being add

Any loss of power, knocking noise under acceleration, especially when cold

Any scum in the expansion tank

Had this a few times from weeping core plugs and loose hose clamps

Is there is a small loss of fluid as well

Haven't seen any staining.
Will try bleeding again, and cleaning out those duck bills. New MAP sensor has been ordered, so will take a closer look when we fit it, to see if we can see any issues with pipework, etc.
Fingers crossed we can get it sorted by later next week otherwise I won't be able to go to work! 😬

I'd concentrate on the fact, air or gas is entering coolant system, the error code could well be connected, we know this as a fact, you can hear the air circulating as soon as you switch the engine on

ETC engine temperature coolant

Is one of the cause the fault

To read correctly it needs to be covered in coolant

You really want a coolant system that's is a 100%

Shine a torch down the radiator cap, what's the liquid look like, nice and pink or dark, start the engine with the cap off does it smell of exhaust

The fact you had the bubble sound in start up before and after the thermostat change, probably an indicator of a small underlying problem more than just a bleed problem

The bubble sound was after the thermostat change a d only in the last week or so. The noise before was a sloshing and I did see a puddle in the scuttle. It only happened occasionally so I assumed it was a blocked drain. Being winter there was a lot of rain, etc so 🤷‍♀️.
Will try and get a video this morning of the noise and post it here. Fingers crossed it'll help.

Okay so have just managed to record this video and wouldn't you know it , there's no water sounds! 😡
However, the Engine.light didn't come on 🙂, it boy there was a srong exhaust smell. I wonder if it might have been blowing back in the open door, but even then it seems quite strong.
Main thing I need to know is, is the car safe to drive tomorrow?

Also, Dad did clear the code yesterday after reading.

So no error and no noise

At the moment there nothing to be gained by doing anything

Nothing to be gained by changing the MAP

Just need to keep a close eye on the fluid levels over the next few weeks

Will.do.
The MAP sensor has been ordered and paid for, so might as well change it now anyway and check for leaks while doing so. This was linked to a separate issue a while back with the car juddering at times when driving and a.slight oil leak noted at the MOT in the summer.
Someone suggested the current issue might be the lambda sensor? We're going to test the voltage tomorrow and fingers crossed it's not that. Seems like a fiddly job if so.
