Hi all

I have an air bag warning light and fault code B010049 which is ECU failure. It seems this is not uncommon on Ducato motorhomes which is what I have. Other posts have suggested the ECU can be repaired by sending it off to a specialist company so I would like recommendations as to companies to use. Can someone also tell me where to find the ECU on the vehicle and how to recognise it so I can remove it to send off.

Thanks

I'm touring at the moment, so restricted on how much detail I can post.

Carl at Northernautotech (Google) seems to have better feedback than Crashdata.

Mine was done there over 18 months ago, and has been ok since.

It's not a particularly difficult job if the repair goes ok (no recoding to the vehicle required).

You need to ensure the battery is disconnected correctly before removal (lock with remote, wait inside for 5 minutes to let systems quiesce, then remove the earth without reopening the doors). With a motorhome it's probably sensible to isolate solar if that feeds the vehicle battery, just in case.

The ECU is in the centre of the cab floor under the battery cover. The thread here has pictures:

It also details extra earthing, which, since it is detailed on a Peugeot TSB, is probably a sensible step on reinstallation.

If you reconnect the battery in the interim, ensure you go through the same isolation steps before reinstalling.

I have decided to buy a new sensor rather than have mine repaired as there seems to be many bad stories about repaired ones failing again. I knoe fitting a new one will require recoding but I have found a local company who can do this.
My airbag sensor has a part number 01375110080 but most of the ones I see for sale have a different part number , 00046858203. Is this a new version or a different part? If it is a new version will there be problems recoding it from my old one?

If you click on on the this link and scroll down you will see a list of comparable part numbers , I think the part number you want is listed.

I was going to suggest Coastal for a cross reference of part numbers. They are pretty reliable.
The original parts have been superceded so a compatible new one is the best option if you don't favour repair.
The old ECU plays no part in 'coding' the new one to the vehicle
I decided to go for repair with a fallback option of a new one I could align with MES, so far I haven't had to do the latter. 18+ months and counting.
