Afternoon, some **** decided to drive too close and as a result, they've hit my offside wing mirror so hard that even though there's no visible sign of any damage to either the outer casing (Cowl) or the glass itself, now the electric mechanism on the driver's side has stopped working. Do i need to replace the glass unit? Any help or advise would be gratefully appreciated. I've attached a pic of the wing mirror, as i understand it, there are various versions.

It might be worth just checking the plugs and wires are all intact. It could just be a broken wire or loose plug. I wouldn’t go replacing the mirror until you’ve ruled that out as the mirror and getting it colour coded can get very expensive very quickly

thanks for the speedy reply on the surface as the image shows, nothing seems broken but the mirror now seems a bit loose, is there an easy way of getting it out so that i can have a look behind?

No

Glass has to come out

They are pretty tough

But there's always a slight risk of cracking the glass

The motor connector is under here

Sorry it's in Italian but translation works well

Not it that it says anything useful

There's a guide for repairing the pivot, it's in the post 2012 or 500 section, same thing

The other connector is down the inside of the dorr post, it unlikely to be affected

Replacement secondhand mirrors including electric start a just over £20 on eBay including shipping

thanks, maybe my question was a bit vague, i know i need to remove the mirror, is there an easy way of doing it or is it just a case of prizing it away from the main body?
