Getting back to forced regens, the Fiat dealer I spoke to said they've melted rear bumpers in the past from forcing it. It's not a maintenance thing, but for emergencies only. His advice to me was to "drive it like I'd stolen it".

Besides he smell, heat blast and reduced mpg, when a regen is in progress and you are stopped with engine idling, the idling is a little bubbly / bumpy. Exactly like a good old fashioned choke lever being pulled out.
Not nessecarily, all depends upon the vehicle and DPF setup![]()
No, it'll still eventually show 99.9, but instead of jumping right to 99.9 insstantly when you take your foot off the go pedal it'll take about 5 seconds, it'll go up in like 12's ie, 54.6 - 68.5 - 80.2 - 96.9 and then 99.9.Sometimes I've thought it sounded a bit odd, but when I looked at mpg without the right foot on the loud pedal it was 99.9, i.e. not using any fuel. According to someone on here it should be lower if it's doing a regen.
