Hi hope I’ve posted. The right place. I have a problem with my 2011 DOBLO 1.4 petrol 12k. The other day I was fixing the handbrake. As it was hot I started the car up to have the air conditioning on. It was ticking over fine then it just stopped running. I thought it was out of fuel as I knew it was low. So day after put some fuel in it and now it won’t start. Turns over fine as it should but won’t fire up. I sprayed some easy start in the air intake and it fired up instantly and ran as it should and ran fine till it burnt of the easy start. It was at this point I noticed when I turned the ignition on there was no sound from the fuel pump like there normally is when the ignition is turned on. Are there any common faults on these or anything somebody could recommend to look at to try and fix the vehicle.
Thanks.
Dave.

First check the engine compartment fuse box , (details in handbook or online), check related fuse and relay there or fuel pump.
If they are in good order then look at the fuel pump in the tank.

Hi thanks for reply. I have swapped the relay for one I know is working and checked fuel pump fuse. Infact I’ve checked all the fuses just to be sure. I’ve taken the fuel pump pipe of and turned the key and fuel is being pumped out of the top of the fuel tank. I still can’t start the car though unless I spurt easy start in air intake and it stalls once it’s burnt it off. When I turn the ignition key on to start it I can’t hear the fuel pump buzz like it does in my other car not sure if it did ever buzz though. Have you got any other ideas that may help me fix the car.

Does your injection rail have a relief valve (like a tyre valve) which if you push it if fuel rail has fuel under pressure it should spurt out.
If yours has the valve but no pressure there, then if safe to do so try undoing the pipe coming from the fuel tank and see if fuel can come out into a container if you turn on ignition.
I assume you haven't run out of fuel;)

I thought it had ran out of fuel when it initially stopped running but I’ve put 3 gallon in a it still didn’t start. I have seen that valve will give it a press in the morning to see if anything spurts out. If it doesn’t what does that mean.

My misses just told me our neighbor who is not a mechanic but has a cheap Autel diagnostic reader. Plugged it in earlier before I got home and it came up with p0685 ecm/pcm power relay control circuit/open. Any idea what that mean is it a faulty relay ? I will try the fuel rail thing tomorrow as I’m not by the vehicle at the moment. Thanks again for your reply and help.

If after trying to start , then switching off you check that valve it should have fuel under pressure squirt out so be careful .
RE ECU side check all earthing to ECU and all other earthing points as they are known weaknesses on Fiat, but maybe if careful check connections wiring plugs etc. If checking ECU it may be sager to check /clean those with battery disconnected and use good quality switch cleaner.
Other on Forum may have more detailed advise re this:)

Ok that’s great info. I’ll have a look tomorrow many thanks

Hi again. Ok so I unscrew the cap on the shrader valve and depressed the pin just after trying to start the car. A small dribble out hardlyand pressure maximum the dribble went was two to three inches. No big spurt of fuel under pressure. Looked into the ground a friend told me to run a black jump lead from battery to engine to earth it. Still no start. I thought I’d use easy start again to see if it ran squirted it into air intake and it fired up straight away and ran fine till the easy start burnt off. I plugged a reader in after it ran and code P0230 fuel pump primary circuit, came up on the reader. Do you know what my problem could be stopping it start. Again I’ve checked fuses and swapped fuel pump relay for a known good relay. Thanks again.

So no fuel pressure by the sound of it.
If you are happy doing it safely , I would try bridging the main contacts of fuel pump circuit where relay sits in fuse box.
Ideally using a fused wire to prevent damage.
Basically what you are trying to do is provide power to the fuel pump, if doing this makes the pump in tank work and start car, then you need to find out why it isn't powering up normally, using a multimeter etc.
Note if any of this feels outside your comfort zone do not proceed:(
