Yes and the drawing line is there is a uncle in bulgaria who fixed his lada or whatever he drove and did 1 million x5 miles on the meter. By doing work himself in his garage. There is no such option anymore and you need to pay thousands for multiscanners and do wheel relearn and God knows what else in the future just for simple tings like timing belt change.

You're right, but allow me just one last wee Lada recollection? The steering was stiff and lacked self centering. Reminded me of driving the old BMC stuff with kingpins where the maintenance (greasing/oiling) of the said kingpins had been neglected and they had partially seized. The mark one Jazz exhibited similar characteristics due, I'm convinced, to having insufficient castor?

Edit, I drove a lot of FIAT 124 hire cars back in those days and they felt very different to the Lada.

We did set up all the steering geometry including castor.:)
