General Distributor Seal Sought

Hi there,

I need a replacement for seal part no 9938590. They cost 70p from FIAT but there is a snag - a min order quantity of 20!

Since I only need one I am looking for other options - can anyone help?

Do you mean the external seal around the distributor?Or the one on the spindle (o-ring)[?]

Try different dealers:
some are better than others for "old" stock.

Where abouts in the UK are you??

There are at least one or two good ones in the Midlands..

Hi there,

It's the seal between the distrbutor and the engine block.

I have attempted a solution:

On impulse I bought a packet of mixed 'O' rings out of B&Q. 98p for 5 and one of them fits, though it's a little too big.

I think I came very close to dethreading the two bolts that hold on the distributor - but tightening a little at a time resulted in a very snug fit so hopefully no more leaks.

My only thought is that the working temperature of the engine may be too much for it - I guess I will find out!
