Sounds like the infamous D4 connector has been giving you problems.....

It has several important wires which run through it, including CAN lines, throttle potentiometer signals, etc, etc. It is one of the most demanding connector blocks in that it is susceptible to alot of vibration, heat and cold, and if the engine bay gets steam cleaned with the battery cover off it can trap water inside it. All DETs know this connector and its regularly checked for any signs of problems during diagnosis procedures.
