Technical Discussion Thread: D4 Connector

I had the excat same thing a couple of weeks ago. was a faulty crank position sensor. fixed in under an hour and under £70

Hi, i have just taken my battery off to recharge it. When i took it out there was a connector block hanging loose. I dont think it is the d connector as it only as a few wires coming out of it. Can anyone advice as to what this connector is and were it should clip to?

Jimmycrank After trawling thru the posts i finally find a fellow stilo owner with the camshaft angle sensor fault please please tell me how you got rid of that warning light please.
Regards Steve.

Hi,
I've followed the instructions suggested regarding the D4 connector in Deckchair5's post and in this thread. After I've reconnected everything I'm getting a clicking dashboard everything clicks about twice a second and I've got loose connection and airbag failure warnings. Anybody got any ideas?

Not sure if anyone reads this anymore but here goes,
Stilo abarth 2.4 20v, loose connection problem.

I have had this issue and it seems to get worse.
I have had a new battery installed and had new earth leads done.

If I drive over a rough patch of road and then stop and turn the car off, when I next try start I get loose connection, alarm failure and the engine management light comes on.
The engine turns strongly but just will not fire

I have multiecuscan but many of the faults are secondary or triggered falsely by the loose connection ( if I clear the faults and drive non ever reappear until loose connection)

If I unplug the battery for around an hour I can start it, i get alarm failure but can drive again, lock and open and start the car and maybe 5 trips until the next bad/ rough road.

Now the rough road may trigger something or it could just be coincidence. I've also noticed the connector block on the fan is not a snug fit and wondered if this could be an issue.

Any suggestions how to solve this would be most welcome. I'm close to having a massive bond fire with this car!!! I love it and hate it in equal measures.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Rob

I clear all errors and the car is fine (with exception of alarm failure- which i think is the alarm siren )then when the loose connection is triggered a whole host of errors are triggered eg p0335 , 1026, b1029, b1007 and the list goes on. They never come on unless the loose connection is triggered - thinking aloud it's almost as if the immobiliser is preventing the car from starting? But it also clears after a period of disconnected battery.
The engine turns over strongly.

Some of the fault codes you've listed refer to electric seats and Connect Nav+ and can be triggered by a low power supply to those items. If you're sure the battery and earth leads are OK, check the power supplies from battery to master fuse board on top of the battery, and from the master fuse board to the engine, dashboard and rear fuse boxes.

Does anyone have wiring diagrams for the D4 on the 1.2 Stilo?

Also what is the other wiring plug that comes of the engine wiring loom into the battery tray? Wiring diagram available for that at all?

It's the black one with the purple release on it, what is this connector used for? Wiring diagrams for both would be appreciated. Regards

Mark

There's not a single wiring diagram for the D4 connector, it's divided across several wiring diagrams depending on which circuit you want.

The black connector with the purple locking lever plugs into the bottom of the engine fuse box, so its for power supplies to various components.

Has anyone managed to find a wiring diagram for d4 or even the wiring colours.
While checking earth's yesterday I found 3 wires on the black connector partially cut through due to rubbing where they exit the battery case.
I've sorted it but wondered what they might have gone to?
