Tuning Diesel tuning box on a 1.3 mjet 75bhp

Hey,

i have a tuning box on mine, and the power/torque improvement is marked, and fuel economy is significantly better, +5mpg or so (but thats only if you drive the same as you did before the box, if you exploit the extra power then you wont do very well haha)

i can manage about 55 mpg doing about 85 mph with mine.

Having said all that i just picked my car up this morning having had a new clutch fitted....i put the box on about 15k miles ago. i only bought the car at 50k miles on the clock though so i dont know if it was me or the previous owner. Im not sure it was me though because the clutch never felt like it does now....

anyway, i'm a fan of it overall. and it passes its emissions tests at MOT with ridiculously low numbers so its not overfueling and it wont fail that sort of thing

Yes well I thought it would be a good thing to do on this car. She is getting the car tomorrow, so I will be buying a tuning box tomorrow night. I have never driven this car before so that's why I wasn't sure if there would be any go in it as standard.

So to give it a bit more power I'm going to put a standard shape k and n on it to replace the original one and a tuning box.
That should give it a bit more go and save her some money on fuel. at least this car will be better than her 1.2 micra that sounds like its doing 200 mph when ur actually only doing 65 mph

Ahh, well id drive it first without...might aswell see if she/you are happy with it before you fork out a few hundred quid on a box :p

i saw your earlier thread and the 1.2 mcra is petrol....and small petrols are shocking i find, the 1.2 in the panda is crap :p...even a 1.6 on a ford focus is gutless lol...see how you/she likes it first id say

the car does have sufficient go as standard tbh, its got 190nm torque so its quite beefy for a small engine.

I also have a different panel filter, a BMC one though but theres probably not much in it between bmc and k&n

Lawrence92, there are hundreds of tuning boxes out there ranging from as little as 40 quid up to 400 quid from well established tuners.

Which one did you get? Is it a single fixed map or do you have dip switches allowing you to adjust the map once installed?

Hum
