I'm really hoping someone can help me please! I have a Punto 1.2 born in 2005, and over the past few months some of the warning lights on the dashboard keep flashing on and off.
The power steering light comes on from time to time and the steering does feel heavy when it comes on.
The ABS and exclamation mark frequently flash on and off together.
More recently this has been combined with a sudden drop of the petrol dial and sometimes also the RPM dial and heating dial - the needle suddenly drops to the bottom and then fixes itself after a few seconds.
I've taken it to the garage twice - it passed the MOT in September and I'd highlighted the problems to the mechanic who couldn't find a problem. But since then the lights have kept flashing on and off and in the past few weeks it's got worse, with sometimes the clock going off as well at the same time, then when it comes back on it's flashing at 00.00 and needs re-setting.
Yesterday I took it to the garage and the mechanic said the water ducts were blocked but he couldn't find anything wrong in relation to the flashing lights. So he sorted blockages - it drove fine on the way home but today the lights have started flashing again. It feels like the car is possessed!!
In the past I have had problems with flat batteries - it wasn't holding the charge and I had to call the RAC on several occasions. I don't drive it long distances very often as I work locally so it doesn't get a lot of exercise these days.
I'm at the point now where I don't know what to do but am getting frightened to drive it even though the mechanic says there's nothing wrong with it. If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful.
