Technical Coolant Leak

Hi, could anyone please help me. I’m at m wits end, we put our car a 2016 Fiat 500x in to get fixed yesterday and we’ve been told it needs a new water pump but that the small black metal pipe coming out it is completely rusted. He called Fiat and they said they don’t have the part so we’ve been told the car is done! We can’t afford to get another car and only months ago it needed a new clutch only having done 40k miles, this cost £1000. It’s been one thing after another but the mechanic has said unless we can find the part then the car is useless. He doesn’t know what this part is called and neither do we so I don’t know if I am ordering the correct things, if I upload pictures could someone please help. It does sound like what some people are having issues with above. Our Aircon system doesn’t work either we paid £400 last year for a new compressor and re gassed it and it all disappeared. I’m wondering now if this is where the leak was? Any help would be appreciated I have attached some pictures.
Hi 🙂
Call shop4parts in Yorkshire,

They stock Italian aftermarket parts, and are sensibly priced

I think you need to find a different garage?
At 8 years old it's hardly old.
Leave the ac for now, you spent money replacing parts not broken, I suspect a leak in the condenser go to a professional ac specialist not a garage or fast fit place ,some will come out to you.
The pipe looks very like the one on the 500, as above ring shop4parts.
Why do they say it needs a new water pump, it should easily last more than 40k? Our 1.2 500 water pump went 100k and 15 years old and was only replaced as I had the cam belt done

8 years old can be "too old for the FIAT parts counter" 😉 ( @s130 ..)

You never know.. Our panda had a belt and waterpump change

13 months later the impellor bearing collapsed throwing the belt..

THAT would write off a Modern CAR 😉

Hi, Thanks for your reply, I will give them a ring today. I have managed to get it booked into another garage next Tuesday. I was told it needed a new Pulley, a belt and a tensioner because of the rattling noise it was making so I ordered these. I’ve since taken it to another garage closer to me as I don’t want to drive it too far and he’s said that it didn’t need the pulley the other parts it does need but the water pump isn’t working and this is where the rattling is coming from but if he takes the pump off to fit the new one that pipe will crumble and he didn’t want to chance it. I’ve been looking on eBay and everywhere but I have no idea what the pipe is called apart from a water coolant pipe and so I don’t want to order anything and it’s wrong. I’m really hoping this new garage can help me next week. Surely I don’t have to scrap my whole car because Fiat don’t hold this part for it, there must be something or somewhere I can get it from. It’s been the worst car we’ve ever had. You name it everything has went wrong with it. It was the electrics last week and we had to pay £150 to get that fixed too.

Hi all, I just wanted to say thank you for your suggestions and help. We put the car into a new garage today and despite us being told by the previous place that we needed a Pulley, tensioner, belt, water pump and new coolant pipe which Fiat no longer make and to bin the car as it can’t be fixed the new garage called this morning to say we didn’t need the pulley, belt or tensioner and that they can replace the coolant pipe with a new rubber one and that they can fix it no problem. I can’t believe we have been given such bad advice from a garage and will never be using them again. We have spent £400 on parts we didn’t need but luckily I can get a refund on these parts. Just thought I’d give an update in case anyone else is having similar issues with their cars. Thanks ☺️

We feel your pain, there are reasons why they have a certain 'reputation'. I'm hoping to avoid a similar scenario with my 124 spider, so far it's been good and I have dealt with some honest shops. I bought new tires, with going up a size for ground clearance and they sent me over to get a wheel aligment (they didn't have the machine)

with the idea the new size would affect the hadeling. They even gave me a coupon for 20 pounds off the price. I went over they put it up on the rack and told me to have a nice day, no charge. My aligment was 100% on spec. I was so surprized I shook his hand and said Thank You. (for not robbing me)
Then the test came on the way home 50 miles all motorway at 65 miles per hour, held the road as straight as an arrow, and hug it like only a roadster can. The lorries whizing by at 75 + and the spider doesn't move. (y)
