Hi everyone, I recently got my first car, a 2013 Fiat 500 Sport, and I’m still learning all the basics. I need to top up the coolant but I’m not sure which type to use. Could anyone tell me the right coolant that I need to buy? Based in the UK if that makes any difference! 🙂

I did ask for help on a Facebook group, but didn’t receive a very helpful response!

Note do not fill the rad to the brim, if it's the type that has the tank on the left use a torch on the side to see the level, or use a dip stick?

If it's orange I suggest getting some of the proper "Paraflu UP" coolant, and mix it 50/50 with deionised water (from e.g. Halfords). If you type Paraflu UP into the search bar at the Shop4Parts website (very useful for a lot of things), it will come up. It's only about 12 quid a litre.
Thank you!!

It is on the left! There’s definitely fluid in there, but it’s tough to see how much. No warning lights are popping up, so I think it’s all good for now - but it helps knowing for the future :)

You can shake that expansion tank a little usually on most cars, then you can spot the coolant slosh and spot the level. If the tank doesn't shake a little, give the car a nudge and do the same.

It's a 500

Most are fitted with a "sight tube" alongside the radiator

Best checked when COLD

Leave Cap ON

Use a torch.. Bright light.. to illuminate the side of the tube

Fluid level will be obvious

If above MIN,
I would just monitor it for a few Hundred miles

Covered 25,000 in my 1242cc 500 with the level just above MIN
