I had a 1986 Y10 Turbo from new and made some serious mods to the engine. Replaced the standard IHI turbo with one from a crashed Uno and upped boost to 24psi, lowered compression, wilder cam, flowed head, bigger carb jets, uprated fuel pump, and most importantly water/methanol (75%/25%) injection to make sure the engine/turbo survived further than the end of the street
Never made a full pressure dyno run but at 20psi saw 167bhp at the wheels, the dyno operator had seen a standard Cossie give virtually the same figures a couple of days earlier .
It ran a 14.1s 1/4 mile in 1989 at a Santa Pod run-what-ya-brung, so I reckon a Cinq should be able to match it I ran the Y10 for 35k miles with the engine in that state of tune, although I had a dash mounted boost adjustment which was kept on 0.8bar max for most of the time, I only turned it up when overtaking or having fun and never in the wet as it didn't handle quite like a Cinq

It has been found that other Cinqs turbos have a Garrett GT15 which is more commonly found on a VW's between 94-99 1.9TDi 90bhp, I got the code 454083-1/2 from VAD (thanks to Alex22 for that) which does indeed match up to Golf MK2 TDI 94-98 engine code 1Z/AHU, Passat TDi 90bhp 95-98 engine code 1Z, Vento TDi 90bhp 94-98 engine code 1Z/AHU/ALE, Sharan TDi 90bhp 95-98 1Z/AUH full turbo code is garrett GT1544S 454083-0001/2E OEM code 028145702E.

IIRC the standard cinq fuel pressure is about 1 bar.i havent seen mention of any change to the fuel pump on the novitec

The pump could deliver 2 bar max they say, but if they do.
For a 101HP setup it's enough.
I'm running at 3 bar Fuel pressure with a 148L/H @5bar Bosch Fuelpump.
The reason for a higher pressure is that if you turn up the boost pressure the fuel pressure drops.
1 bar Fuel pressure and 0.5bar boost = 0.5 bar Fuelpressure at full turbopressure.
The pump could deliver 2 bar max they say, but if they do.

Novitec is much expensive and van aaken stopped this buisness.

no ones used one but there was a post on it.
the filter where it is would draw a lot of hot air but could be relocated
the plastic TB cover was a bit concerning for holding boost pressure
it doesnt show how it supplys extra fuel nor what (if any) fuel controller is used so if not supplied add minimum £200 for a fuel controller + RR time.
though as i say no ones fitted one to confirm.you could get a manifold,sump and TB caseing made up yourself. then make oyur own turbo kit with off the shelf parts.
though remember to key in insurance costs,brake upgrades etc

it's just 1242cc punto engine (like in my cinq!.. execept my turbo is on the shelf in my garage )

A good freind of mine owns a little cinqy with a vanakeen turbo conversion on a punto 1.2 engine and the cost to date is 2700 quid but he recantly had the car dynod at 162bhp and 140lb/sf of torque and trust me when i say its one of the fastest cars ive been in, from 60 onwards its unreal how fast it goes
the turbo is definatly the right way to go for performance.
A good freind of mine owns a little cinqy with a vanakeen turbo conversion on a punto 1.2 engine and the cost to date is 2700 quid but he recantly had the car dynod at 162bhp and 140lb/sf of torque and trust me when i say its one of the fastest cars ive been in, from 60 onwards its unreal how fast it goes
the turbo is definatly the right way to go for performance.

over 100bhp increase with cost to date of £2700 oh and a 60bhp increase over even the high boost vad setups (which cost more than £2700 iirc off hand)

Didn't see this before but I run a Walbro pump, direct replacement for the original Fiat fitments Walbro, tho mine is normally found in a Escort RS2000, Mondeo 2L 16V 2.9 V6 Sierra 4x4 tc as found on here www.fuelsytem.co.uk as I found there are major issues with the fuel pressure on standard pump. I have it regulated to 3bar on 2nd injector with a SARD rising rate fuel pressure regulator and then run it to teh primary injector and run that at 1.4 bar by means of adjusting the regulator as found on that.
I would recommend that anyone with a VAD turbo that they do not at any costs run more than 0.6bar that VAD set them at as this is right on the cusp of them running lean with the MF2 running full 80% duty cycle on 2nd injector. the 2nd injectors are meant to run 3 bar as they are normally either light or dark green injectors found on Cosworths. So if you have one of those bleed valves on there that I've seen most VAD set ups seem to have do not at any costs turn up the boost, you will melt the pistons, better removing it.

I think a T3 would be too large - a T15 would fit much more easily - there should be ample room in a Punto. Plus, Metro Turbos are getting rarer, so parts availabilty may be an issue in the future. The T15, IIRC, were fitted to some VAGs and the Astra 1700cc TD.
