General Cambelt replacement cost?

Hi,

I'm due to replace the cambelt on my grande punto 1.4 16v. Does anybody know how much I can expect this to cost all in all?

Also, does anyone have any advice of other little bits that should be done while the cambelts being done?

My local dealership charged me a fixed £300 for cambelt change, all in.

They also checked whether the water-pump needed replacing or not (it didn't as it happens ) - that would have been an additional £85.

where do you live some one may recommend a good garage, always change the pump they cant be properly checked with out removal and even then its no guarantee it will last till the next belt change.

Ive just paid £280 for cambelt, waterpump and service on a T-Jet at a local garage, using OEM quality parts.

They are the only garage ive never had issues with and cheaper than dealer or specialists.

Area is North East Derbyshire.

I paid £385 inc water pump at a fiat franchise. Seems to be a fixed price.

Personally I'd change the water pump regardless, £85 is a lot less than an engine re-build.
