Hi All
Which businesses are best to purchase engine rebuilding parts as in gasket sets, rings, bearings etc, Injectors as well as EGR & Throttle bodies.
I have come across some of the previous businesses I have used have now taken Australia off their shipping list.
Emailing them it sounds like they are too busy looking after you lot.
Thankyou.

You didn't say which models, in the past I have had success by trying the badge engineered versions, Citroen, Peugeot etc. Many years ago when I needed parts for Ivecos I found that taking the 100 off the front of the part number it became the Fiat number for the same part, bearing shells, pistons etc. at a cheaper price , but they wised up.:(

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I work on all the vehicles but now seem to be Ducato as many x250 were sold here in Motorhome form & White van. Comfortmatic brought another dimension to issues & repairs.
I do know how to get the part numbers it's just finding a Business that wants to ship to Australia. I buy parts from the USA with no problem at all.

I have heard of vehicles waiting in Dealerships for parts over here also.
If I didn't know better??? I would think over here at least it was a conspiracy to force purchase of EV vehicles.;)
I am long retired now after working on mostly cars and light commercials up to Iveco Daily in the 2.5 and 2.8 days, along with the odd Mercedes 608D etc. as a one man business with good regular customers.
Comfortmatic is not something I would recommend to any of my ex customers!
I used to rightly boast that unless they had put a con rod through the side of an engine I could go out on a breakdown and get them going again, now it is a low loader job and a big bill!

Much would depend on the nature of the parts you want, and whether certain suppliers stock them.

I doubt shipping to Aus would be cheap, but the following two outlets (which are used extensively by posters on here) both appear to offer such shipping, and cover a good few parts.

https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/ (despite the name, general 'van parts supplies)

Hi Hugh
Thanks for your reply.
Coastal will only sell through there eBay UK site.
Ducato 3.0l top end gasket kit is $200 AUD more than anyone else I can get hold of.
Shop4parts don't have Ducato in there drop down list.
The parts I buy are for engine rebuilding. I seem to think not a lot of that goes on over there now. I am old school where we machine & rebuild rather than throw them away.

That sound like the way I was trained in the late 60s. We would rebuild engines Diffs , gearboxes, overdrives, power steering units. etc. anything that came through the doors we would fix it, the same day we could weld an old ladies shopping trolley, fix a tractor, a 1950s Jag XH140, the bosses boat engine, a puncture on a muck spreader with split rims, as well as normal servicing, never boring.:)
Trouble is no one seems to rebuild engines these days and like you are finding parts, pistons, shells, gaskets rings etc.:( All the good local places have closed and I don't think the colleges show them how to rebuild engines, it is more plug it in to the EOBD port and the computer will tell you what to do. I went to a Bosch Trade evening some years ago and the rep asked all the young mechanics the basic reason for black smoke on a diesel, I was the only one to answer.;)

Hi Mike
It looks like I am the same age group as you.
When you add welding in there as well I just smiled to myself.
I have been teaching myself all this sensor & computer stuff and setting up bench tests to see how it all works & how to test. I can't get the grandkids interested as there is no Xbox in my shed.

Just as an addition: If you're looking to source difficult-to-get parts, these might be able to help.

I've bought from them, and the experience leads me to believe that they probably have access to the full, currently available, inventory. Doubt anything would come at anything but list-price, however, and shipping might be eye-wateringly expensive (It does say they'll ship internationally, but costs quoted individually, and I can't vouch for it).
