Blue & Me - Tech Info and questions and answers

I've just got a new phone (samsung G800) and i connected it to my car no problems, the first time it worked fine. But now everytime i connect it it'll stay connected for about 5 mins then it will just stop working suddenly or when i want to make a call.

Anyone know why this is?

Got my t-jet the other day.
My Nokia N95 8gb works great with it, had to manual copy the contacts over and the messaging doesnt work but all other functions work great.

Regarding the usb pen drives.

I had 2 generic usb pen drives, copied mp3s and placed it into the usb reader in the glovebox. They all read ok and played the mp3's but after turning off the igniton and switching it back on i got the 'no media' problem and the only solution was to unplug the pen drive and plug it back in.

Purchased a 4gb Kingston Traveler pen drive which came today and this works without any problems, much faster and select tracks and reads no problem after switching off the ignition.
I think if your having problems with a pen drive its well worth getting a known manufacture one and id really recommend the Kingston at only £13.

Does everyone leave their usb pen drives in the glovebox usb 24/7?. or do you remove it after time you turn off the engine??.

I was going to leave mine connected 24/7 but then i read somewhere on here that a dealer said this will/may fry the electronics. I cant see this happening and it doesnt mention anything in any of the manuals but just wondered what other people did?.

does someone know why B&M doesn't support sms reading on many phones? I have an N81 and everything works but the sms reader. I really would like to read my messages on the dashboard :(

what does the phone actually need in order to be able to send the messages to the car?

Does anyone know if the apple iphone works? Have ordered my 500m have iphone and read various reports :(

Got a small problem with my Nokia N95 8gb, it paired up ok with the car but now when ive gone away from the car and got back in it doesnt automatically pair up.
Ive got authorisation set it automatic on the phone, I can see that the phone is trying to pair up with the car via bluetooth but it wont automatically connect.

If i go into the bluetooth options of the phone and press 'connect to audio device' it pairs up.

For some reason its not doing it automatically.
Any ideas?.

I remember getting that same problem after I turned my N81 off the night before.

Laptop connection to car's USB port?

Has anyone tried plugging a laptop with ActivSync installed into the car's USB port? If the car is running Windows CE then quite possibly the laptop will connect to it as if it were a handheld PC and then you can explore the files and OS that the Blue&Me system uses.

(Yeah, it's a nerdy question, sorry)

I have only had this problem once or twice, generally it pairs up straight away, it seems unsual. Is your phone one of the Vodafone exclusive handsets or does it have the generic firmware?

Yes just a little nerdy! But still we're all Fiat Nerds together :p

Anyhow in terms of Activesync and Blue&Me I'd be suprised if it works, however there must be some sort of engineering mode that Blue&Me will go into... for error codes etc
I'd like to know what equipment the intended diagnostic port is for...

Its a 3 handset.
Ive deleted all the user data from the car, and re-paired the phone and since then its been connecting fine automatically!. Must have just been setup wrong or got confused along the way. Resetting and deleting the user data seems to have done the trick.

Re: phone compatability

After reading all 352 posts in this thread (and two cups of coffee later) I've come to the following conclusions:

1) Blue&Me runs Windows. Did anyone really expect it to work as it should? XP took nearly 4 years before it became pretty solid (ish). B&M has far less software engineers and end users so the priority is significantly lower. :(
2) After spending £9K to £14K on a new car it doesn't seem too bad to spend just an extra £50 on getting a new phone that's known to be 100% compatible with your new car. In an ideal world you shouldn't have to. But it's not.
3) The Sony Ericsson phones seem to be the most compatible especially when it comes down to SMS reading which no other make seem to be any good at.

I have a Windows smart phone ("smart" - ha-ha!) but will probably get a Sony Ericsson next as it's more compatible with Windows than, er, Windows. :bang:

If I can get the SMS reader working I can set up my emails to be SMS'ed to my phone. Then I can read new emails via the dashboard while driving. It's hands-free init? ;) Gee, how do I reply to them? Push the indicator stalk down to advance through each letter of the alphabet? Heh.

Re: phone compatability

I just switched to a Nokia phone because Nokia is being used as a reference. SE phones has got problems with syncing to f.e. a Mac and it doesn't have as many apps as Nokia smartphones...It's just plain stupid that SE is fully compatible with B&M and not Nokia grmbl

hey all,

I am buying an iphone, will it work with blue and me, if so will all features work? (i am not expecting sms)

thanks

My friend just tried his iphone with my GP's Blue&Me today. Surprise. Everything worked perfectly (apart from the sms reader).

I am waiting for my new Bravo to arrive and looking through this thread .. Before I ordered the car I was told that a memory stick full of my favourite tracks was all I needed to play the tracks through the cars stereo system.
However, reading through this thread it would appear that I need an mp3 player like an I-pod or similar and not just the stick. Is this true?
Or will the memory stick be fine ?

Quiz.

The system has a USB port. So you will need a USB memory stick adaptor that you can connect to Blue&Me.

Id recommend getting a Kingston Data Traveller 2 4gb memory stick, works fine.

Ive tried a couple of generic ones and they didnt work.

ive g a sony ericson t650i
does anyone know if it works with blue and me?
