Morning all,

Just wanted to say hi, I’m currently in a fiat panda 62 plate and apart from being the bog standard one I absolutely love it! Been such a brilliant little car… Im now sadly letting her go and I’m in the process of purchasing a used 15 fiat 500s with everything on it (a key fob!!! So excited) gone will the days of de-icing the key holes lol

So just any tips or advise on owning the 500s would be great! Mainly do I leave the car warm up on cold days because of the turbo? Things like that

Hi and welcome :)

I've not had my Abarth for long but it seems to be pretty robust for a turbo car, so I'd say nothing more than you would do with a normal car in terms of keeping antifreeze levels right, etc. In fact a turbo car runs slightly better in cold, dry air because the 'charge' (the compressed turbo air) is a bit cooler when it gets into the engine.

Only thing I'd say specifically to watch out for is a general 500 issue - the door handles. They're a bit of a weak spot, and I suspect if you gave one a good tug when the door was stuck to the frame with frost it'd snap the handle off.

Ahhh that’s why when typing in fiat 500 door handles come up lol 😂

Thank you 😊 it’s just been serviced and have warranty so all good just excited now collection at 1 today! Sad also to say bye to my trusty panda

I started FIAT ownership after an Alfa 156 SW & a 147.

The first FIAT was a 500 Twin Air, it was written off after six months, a Toyota Auris pulled out, it ended up on its side...

After that we had 4 Abarths. No issues with the turbo, just start and go.

Like any car, don't give it any stick until its naturally up to temperature.

For the last three years we've had a Tipo 1.6 Diesel turbo, Abarths again no problems.

In September we ordered a 500X Sport 1.3 DDCT, it should be delivered in March....

You don't need to do anything different with a turbo, stick to the service schedule and it'll be fine
