Afternoon all
Although my wife would rather like a new Panda to replace her 2013 model, we've been throwing a lot of money at it to keep it going - recently including a new turbo, driveshaft, and I've just also bought a new sump guard as the old one rotted away badly. (rustproofing the whole car properly coming up soon now) She does still love her 'Giovanni' (and dare I say it with the new Turbo she flies - mid range I don't think the kids 100HP's are much better :) )

But after having a few hire cars when away, Mrs B is now frustrated that an in built screen with Appleplay which can effectively replicate her phone and use Google maps etc. is very much missing on the dash. So does anyone have experience of fitting an aftermarket device that will do this and works well?

Help hugely appreciated. It could be that Christmas pressy I need....

Thanks

Chris

I did this to mine but used a Pionner fold-out screen, added DAB along with inputs for a reverse camera too.

Bought the whole lot, including fitting kit from a place called dynamic sounds, pretty much plug and play.

Happy to answer any questions you have on the fitting etc.

I bought a genuine fiat one from the newer panda. It is completely plug and play and works flawlessly. I did have to buy a new cable to connect the existing microphone in the light cluster but that was an easy 2 min job after I fitted it.

That's great. Direct from a main dealer? How much, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi...I found this thread as I was looking to do the exact same thing with my newly acquired 2014 TA 4x4 to get GPS....

I've been looking at a few 'Fiat 500 breaking' adverts on a well known auction site and it looks like some of those have this same unit (others have them with a '500' logo on the top) so I was wondering if it they would match and be a straight plug and play. The only thing that I don't like is that the screen virtually completely covers the dashboard vents. Another option would be a standalone unit (plenty on the auction site) that has the Apple or Android connection to your phone, which gives you access to your preferred GPS (and continual map updates), calls, messages, stream music to the existing stereo, etc - some also have built in dashcams on the back so no extra wires to hide. But I've read so-so reviews as they are obviously Chinese built and quality can be hit and miss.

Has anybody tried one of these units?

Many thanks.

One of the members installed a Witson one, and seemed quite happy with it. I'll see if I can find a link to the thread.

Just realised it's already in the thread above 🤦‍♂️

Here is the original thread with MUCH more info:

Thank you, but that one replaces the current stereo unit. I was thinking more of a standalone version, leaving the original stereo in place.
Something along the lines of this

It will link to your phone so give all the same functions as the phone, but on a larger more readable screen, plus some have the inbuilt dashcam, ability for a reversing camera. Plus they can link to the existing stereo to use speakers, presumably also hands free calling buttons etc. Not as neat an installation as actually replacing the stereo, I accept, but also it wouldn't cover up the vents.

I would be very wary of falling foul of the police using something like that. It wouldn't surprise me if they classed it the same as using a phone while driving.

Stupid, I know. You can fiddle as much as you want with a touchscreen that is built in but lay so much as a finger on a dash mounted phone and you can be nicked...

Hi Euroben. I want to do this to one and maybe both daughters B&M equipped cars. Im wondering if the B&M module becomes redundant. We have a 2014 car without phone or blutooth and I wonder if I could upgrade that car with kit from the 2016 and 17 B&M equipped cars. How did you come by the new radio and what did it set you back? It would be great to know.
