General anyone noticed how much UT prices have gone up?

there has been a severe lack of reasonably priced auctions in ebay lately...haven't seen a decent shed clearance for over a year, and as for whole cars, there has been some serious pie in the sky pricing.....

Getting a bit too much now, I've been browsing Fleabay for a UT, decent ones hit nearly £2k.

That said, one bloke sold 2 UT's in the same auction for a combined price of £310

The 2 uno turbos for 300 was a bargain!!! the same route i went down but i paid 500, and i have all my spares a waiting! which comes in handy, the prices have rose recently more to do with the time of the year, everyone wants a new ride for the summer then when they've nailed and blown it up and thrown a load of money at it and the temp drops they move on and someone picks up a winter resto!! cheap! dont forget there is only about 150 of each mk left and the last i seen was about 3-4 years ago apart from this one, a local chav has seen the misses whhoooshhhing about in hers and has found a ut, i seen it on a fourcourt and thought it was for sale, so stopped for a chat and he paid 500 for it he he with the engine in the boot, i think it will see about 20 miles tbh he did say he was a mechanic tho! but i know him and wouldnt let him fit a battery!!! Ant!

ebay isnt the only place where you can buy and sell uno turbos.

just because it sold on ebay for X amount doesnt mean its worth that much.

my mk1 uno turbo will be forsale at the end of the summer, and it wont be going up on ebay.

about 40 died last year, The only ones left now were once the good ones! so doesn't a hundred or so make it rare, how many was GB given wasnt it around a 1000 of each mk or less! Ant!

I turned down a complete UT earlier this year. Me and Jai went to see it, a 'C' reg mk1, complete and running, but no T&T and with a rotten floor and a few Chavvy bits (drainpipe exhaust, bling wheels, cheap respray). Otherwise it was ok and had all the parts for a re-shell project. Not sure if the engine needed a rebuild but it ran, though the lack of much engine oil was a bit worrying...

The garage wanted £750! We walked out and the salesman dropped it to £400. We reckon we could have got it for £250 - 300, but I just couldn't justify taking on such a project as I had no space for it, no money and was just about to start University :bang:

But Dunc is right, prices have gone up over the past few years. When I bought my current mk1 45S in 2003, rusty turbos for spares were going for around £100 - 150. I even saw one non runner got for £75! Now a doggy UT is going for £250 at least. Running with MOT seem to start around £500 for a rough one, going up to £750 - 1000 for one that is reasonably tidy. Now though, the really nice ones are at LEAST £1000.

Pottleflump is also right in pointing out that unmolested and original UT's are getting very rare, especially mk1s. Hell, both mk1 and mk2 are getting rare in unmolested form. :(

We should all pool our spare cash and resources to buy every single UT that comes up for sale and then store them in a big barn somewhere. UT preservation society anyone? :slayer:

yeah, u could say theyre not rare, but only 300 odd left in the UK makes em had to get. theyre rare being seen on the roads lol

Dunc

300 left? Loads then! ;) Only ever had 500 Tipo Sedici's.. how many now?

I can see some of the older hot hatches starting to appreciate in value. I paid £1000 for my Tipo and it was in great working order until its current episode. Easily worth £1200-£1400 once I fix the engine. Must be one of the best in the country for condition of bodywork and interior.

Anyway... Appreciating value is good. Means we can spend more on our UTs and Sedici's without thinking "Is it worth spending £xxx on a £xxx car?"

there are some chancers though (2 particularly on ebay) who are seriously out of order with their pricing structure on uno, let alone turbo bits...i mean for crying out loud, £10+ for a single plastic wheel arch, £20 for the sill cover, thats £80+ for a set, and you still need the bumpers on top......any sensible person would have 3 sets of all of this in the shed as a hedge bet against the future.......:p

the arches are only a couple of quid more new from fiat!

I already have 2 mk1 uno's, my black mk1 is mint as no joke, the bodywork is close to rolled out of the factory condition and the underneath is mint too. i plan to spend another 5k on it but it will never be forsale.

Rock on mark mate! :slayer:

All about the personalised UTs!

My current MK2 UT is standard.................its blowing out the middle exhaust mount and rusty :D ...............but ive had 130mph in 4th @ 5,500rpm and 0-60 in 6.8 secs............****ing love it! lol

Parts are pricey but its up to anyone on here and anyone looking into buying one to realise that they arent cheap!.................end of!

Too many ****ing bodgers get there cheap-arse hands on them and apply there "money morals" on them!! :bang:

****ing puccys at the end of the day!
I only get defensive of my little rust rockets (ive had 2 MK2 Uts on the road) because they have been there when i needed them most and NEVER let me down in the process and worried the pants of anyone who has graced there arse in the passenger seat because it faster then they thought!

Personally, i can only sum up the Fiat Uno Turbo as a whole in 1 sentance: "Engineered like a Ferrari............Built like a Fiat!" :)

I went to look at this yesterday as it's only just up the road. I was also hoping it would go for around £50 so I could buy it, put it on the road, sell my Cinq and actually have a little cash left over.

It's very, very solid for an old Uno apart from the rear inner arches starting to go. All four doors and the tailgate are rust free, though there are a few minor dents and scratches here and there. The engine is very low mileage and runs fine, gearbox is ok too.

Downsides are that it's been standing for a year unused, and three of the four tyres have perished badly. The tread is coming away from the tyre, and they're not remoulds! There is rust starting to take hold of the rear inner arches as mentioned, though it's not actually that bad and will be very easy to deal with if caught quickly. Both front electric windows don't work, though apparently they did when it was laid up. I got the central locking working when I found that one of the fuses had blown and swapped it, though it seemed a bit temperamental. Also the brakes are binding and the discs are very rusty, so expect a brake strip down at least. I ran it up and down the road and the brakes hardly work at all. Suspension struts seemed to damp ok, but both the springs and shocks are very rusty.

The interior is good, no rips or tears though there is a little sign of wear on the driver's seat. Door panels are good, though the front driver's panel has the fabric coming away on one corner. It just needs re-sticking down. It also has genuine Fiat car mats fitted all round, and the rear parcel shelf looks like it's never been removed!

I'd say the biggest downer is the sunroof. It is NOT the factory fitted sunroof but an aftermarket unit fitted after the car was new. Easy to tell as the car still has the centrally mounted interior light rather than the two side pillar lights. There's no rust around it, though the surround has warped and the closing handle doesn't hold it shut securely. It would need replacing with another aftermarket unit or some work to get it fitting properly. The factory sunroof wouldn't fit as the roof would need the factory pressings/ bracings/ seal flange. Not that you can even find the factory sunroof anymore...

The guy selling it was surprised anyone even bid over £30! If he hadn't put it up on Ebay I'd probably be able to get it off him for £25, though as I don't know the guy I wouldn't know it was for sale :bang:

Oh, it's got a stamped service book right up to about 65K miles, 4 owners from new (the last two are the guy selling it and his wife) and if it wasn't going for £190 I'd have it for myself...

Mustn't grumble as I already have a Uno mk1 and have no room on the drive anyway.

If anyone is desperately searching for a good mk1 70SX I'd recommend this one if you're prepared to spend some time and money on it, plus the purchase price of course, then you'll have a really nice example of probably the rarest mk1 model (far more UT's come up for sale than 70SX's, and UT's are rare now!).

So it seems that it's not just the UT prices than are on the up now regarding Unos!

I'm not convinced that prices are genuinely on the up but it's the whole ebay effect, if you'd got there before the guy put it on ebay..... This car is effectively worth £30 scrap value, needs a fair amount of work and money which isn't obvious from the pictures or description and people bid more than the car is worth because they haven't seen it and think it's one of kind or something. Ebay and the internet is great for finding this stuff but people lose their heads over it and bid too much. It like saying the UT is rare, there are 5-6 listed on at the moment and they'll always be more in a few days time so why pay over the odds unless it is a really nice example which you really can't tell based on a couple of pics and a couple of lines of writing. The UT I sold looked nice in the pictures on ebay but underneath it'd had shed loads of welding and the car was covered in knocks....I still sold it for more than twice what I paid for it because of ebay.
