Well, half an hours work and zero expense has all it's power  restored. As I suspected, the timing belt was fitted one tooth out. The previous owner had been using like this for months, go figure.

Now if would just stop raining long enough for me to wash and polish it. :bang:

Well done Vernon, sounds like a bargain(y)

The Mania has a few nice little extras, this one sounds extra special - congrats!

Thanks Martin, and PH, the Mot may prove it to be otherwise, but so far the exhaust and one tyre are all I can see it needing. As I plan to change the wheels anyway the tyre is not really a problem.

I did manage to give it a wash today and had a good look at the bodywork, it's not completely dent free after all, but the couple it does have are only tiny, supermarket ones. The paintwork is still as flat as a witches t*t, but I couldn't resist having a little go with the T cut on a corner of the roof between showers, and I'm confident that a good afternoons work will have it shining like a new Ferrari.

I'm starting to think now that baybe, once it is all shiny, it would look pretty good with the Five spoke alloys that came with my blue CLX rather than the Alfa wheels I was going to use. Hmmm

I suppose you're all going to tell me that you've got central locking too now.

Errr, well......actually Yes :D

Got to get around to fitting it in dad's Selecta. It's got the alarm but haven't go around to fitting the central locking in it.

The last one (that got written off :() on the other hand did have Remote central locking, and, remote starting. Does yours have that? :p

Jon.

Hi Jon, Ah, no. I don't know anyone who's got that!

I do have an Illuminated start button that lights up even more, in blue, when you press it! It's the round thing in the centre console.

Well, it was actually dry and sunny this morning so I managed to get a bit of T cutting in before I started work.

Also booked the mot for next Monday morning.

The cheepest rear silencer I could find locally to me was about £35 but would have to be ordered, so I checked on good old Ebay and found one for £31.41 inc. p&p. I phoned the supplier, ordered and payed over the phone, and was assured that I will receive it tomorrow. Excellent, that gives me plenty of time to fit it. I'll be very impressed with this supplier if it does turn up on time, so have given the Ebay link below in case it is of future use to anyone, ( thier phone no. is in the listing ).

How's the colour coming up, Vernon?

Nicely timed question Martin, as I finished the T cutting and polishing this morning. I've had to do a bit at a time because work is so busy this week.

It's come up very well, although you can now see that it has a few little dinks here and there, just stone chips and very light creases, just like every other Panda I've owned/seen. I think they make them out of tin foil :(.

Also, it's not the same red as the fizz I had a couple of years ago, this one has more brown, almost like shiny red oxide, and I'm not so keen on it.

If it goes through the mot on Monday though I'll be more than happy, hope the Daughter will be too. I think, that given her budget, she'll be amazed .

It's a bit late now but will post some before and after pics. tomorrow (y).

Ok, here's some pics of work so far.

These are when we first got her home, nothing done yet.....

Oops, messed up the post, will have to continue on the next one.
