Technical Airbag light

Started MoHo today and was greeted by the airbag warning light. Van is 5 years 1 month old with just under 21,000 miles.

Washed it yesterday. Wife's handbag on passenger seat when started. Starter battery is float charged at 12.5v continuously. Van not used for one week.
Hi CheeseMonster.
I had a similar issue about a year ago. It turned out to be the ECU next to the battery. It was suggested that my motorhome van battery had went too low. I know you can take the ECU and send to ECU repair companies. Unfortunately for me Hermes/Evri lost my ECU😡. I then had to purchase a new one from Fiat and get it remapped at Fiat. Total cost was nearly £900😡

Ouch, I hope to use MultiECUScan to align my new airbag ECU which I've ordered from Fiat. Hope to give an update next week when it and a new battery arrive.

@CheeseMonster ive added a more comprehensive guide
I have not done this personally but have been told its possible and can take upto 4 attempts

Today I fitted a new starter battery and a new Airbag module. We went to collect the Airbag module yesterday from our local dealer, luckily I opened the rather battered box in front of the parts guy, this was a massive stroke of luck as the Airbag module had obviously been fitted before!!! So today we collected another one which looked less secondhand.

A big thank you to @theoneandonly for his help, the module proxi aligned first time. Post alignment quick check for errors revealed:-

Clearing errors seemed successful.

Here are the old and new Airbag ecu's, the old (failed) unit is the lower one.

@landrovereditor multiecuscan does all that is needed for a diyer. inc read airbagcodes (if there are any, codes not always present when they die) and a proxi alignment for a new ecu.
